If you could just think a good thought for Afleet Alex today in the Belmont,
I'd appreciate it. I feel like he is MY horse having been able to be with
him. I think that if he wins today, Alex Scott's (www.alexslemonade.org)
dream of making $5 million dollars will be become a reality. While Alex the
horse has really garnered a lot of support for Alex's Lemonade Stand, a win
today would place him in superstar status and I think some really big money
would come in to the foundation. It's not purr request really, since this
isn't the type of thing one would request purrs for but a good thought or
wish would not go amiss. I really believe in positive thought.

I hope Afleet Alex win too. Very impressive with his win in the Preakness.

My GOODNESS! He passed Giacomo from nowhere! Do they have a
transporter hidden in the barn or something?????
I suspect, given the publicity, the megabucks would have happened
regardless, but if this win helps, more power to them!
btw - did you see the piece in Sports Illustrated about Alex's diet?
Not all *that* different from what our furry masters demand...
(June 13 issue):
AFLEET'S EATS Trainer Tim Ritchey gives Afleet Alex (1,000 pounds)
about 18 pounds of horse feed a day. The feed is a mix of oats and
numerous vitamins and is also high in beet pulp to aid digestion. The
3-year-old eats three times a day, at 5 a.m., an hour before a
two-mile workout, at 11 a.m. and at 4 p.m. Like most horses Alex has a
sweet tooth, and he loves peppermints. Rithcey gives him two or three
a day but gave him a dozen in the 90 minutes after his Preakness win.

And I bet another dozen by now! I started getting teary in the post parade,
but man oh man, after that performance! What a horse!! It was easy for him.
My friend and I went to the local track. It is my first time going there. We
had fun betting on the local horses and watching. She wants to bring her
family, as the kids will love being able to be right at the fence as they
thunder by. Here is an example of the amplified good Afleet Alex's
connection to the lemonade stand is. A little girl in town called the track
and found out they had not planned a stand. She asked the racing manager if
she could do one. He called the vendors who sell lemonade and got their OK.
She is all of 10 years old and she was motivated to go and do this generous
thing and spend her Saturday there because of one little horse and one
little girl who is no longer here, but still spreading her determination and
initiative to other little girls.

Another "heart-stopper". What a horse! They were all so beautiful. MLB
