Persia's Home! (and so am I)

I read a few posts here last night but was tired (I had to sit in the KCI
airport for 5 hours waiting for my flight).  I cannot attempt to catch up.
Purrs and birdie chirps where needed for whatever you may need them for.

I picked up Persia and Peaches the Lovebird a little while ago.  Persia
yowled the entire way home.  Then she had to inspect every room in the
apartment, including the closets, still yowling.  She's finally settled down
next to me, occasionally mrrpping for some skritches and rewarding me with
purrs.

They had previously told me to cut her food consumption to 1/2 c. in the
morning and 1/4 c. in the evening.  (Hill's x/d).  The vet looked at her and
they called and told me it's now 1/4 c. in the morning and 1/4 c. in the
evening.  When they gave me the bag of food back there was a sticky-note on
it which read "1/2 c. day total - DO NOT OVERFEED!"  LOL  I noticed even
though it's only been a week she has already slimmed down!  Yay!

My only complaint is for some reason they took her collar off.  This
happened once before.  So I got home and no collar.  I called; oh yeah, it
was in the little bucket by her kennel, they forgot to grab it.  Why would
they take it off in the first place?  They weren't doing any sort of
procedure on her.  So now I have to make another trip over there to get her
collar.  Frankly, I'm still tired so that will have to wait for tomorrow at
least.

The receptionist told me a funny.  Another woman who works there thought I
was picking them up yesterday.  When it came around closing time she
realized it was today.  She made an announcement on the intercom:  "Persia
and Peaches are staying another night".  When she said "Peaches" they heard
an answering chirp from the back!  I smiled; yes, my little Peaches knows
her name and reacts to it :)  They thought that was funny.

Thank you all!  The show was very good.  He always does well at that show
and this year was no exception.

On Sunday after we tore everything down, we were invited to dinner at the
home of two of his patrons (they own 13 of his paintings!).  We snacked on
cheese and crackers and sipped wine and chatted with them.  They are a hoot
and there was a lot of laughter.  For dinner they prepared beef tenderloin,
roasted new potatoes with rosemary, sauteed baby carrots and served another
bottle of wine.  Great way to end the show!

Welcome Back (how does that TV theme show go?).  I can hear it in my mind,
but can't remember all the words - and you wouldn't want me singing it
anyway, since I can't sing LOL

Welcome back, Jill.  Almost every place we have ever taken the boys
removes their collars for safety reasons.  Even break away collars can
fail and it might be possible for the collar to get caught on something
and the animal to hang themselves.  I know someone whose collar got
caught on a bottom latch and they were trapped laying down overnight.
There wasn't enough tension to snap the collar but it was held tight
and their poor little head was trapped near the floor.  :-(

That makes perfect sense.  I guess I was still tired and not thinking
straight when I wrote that paragraph.  Thanks!

I suspect I'll be getting the same type of advice next week when TED
sees LB. Her "ideal weight" is around 9 pounds, and she weighs just
under 12. She may even have gained a little since Spot has moved in,
since Spot has been getting kitty chow to put on the weight and LB
steals all she can from Spot's bowl.

Must be universal - TED here does the same thing. Seems the first step
is to remove the collar, but at least here they latch it around the
carrier handle. course, the first thing I do when I pick up one of the
girls at TED is put back on the collar. If something unforeseen
happened and someone escaped I want them wearing the tag with my phone
number to improve the chance of being returned home.

I have the opposite problem. TED told me to feed Rusty more so he
can put on some weight. He only weighs around 8 lb. But he is on a
costly prescription can food and I don't have a job. Good thing the
Rusty did put on 1-2 oz.  I do give him a bit of yogurt, canned pumpkin,
and butter.

Rusty has a microchip so I am not too concerned if he doesn't have his
collar. Only one time in years back did they forget to put his collar back
on. I think that was when he had his 'big' operation. I noticed the missing
collar right away and they couldn't find it. So they called somebody at
home to find out where it was.
