I have an interview on Tuesday for a job supervising a public computer
lab this summer and giving basic computer classes. I can deal with
this /much/ better than retail (To anyone here who works retail--I
cannot do your job without sedation.) I really, really want this job
and would like some of those purrs that are making the rounds. I need
the money if I want to do anything this summer other than eat (like pay
for gas, visit family, go on dates).
I didn't get into the masters' program I wanted this fall. The
university did not have enough funding to take me. I should have my
part-time teaching job back, and I plan to take some graphic design/art
classes instead of full time school.
I would also like some purrs as I have submitted a novel proposal to a
publishing company, and they have asked to see a sample chapter.

Let's hope both things work out for you. The idea of writing a novel
sounds so exciting. Best purrs on the way!

Purrs coming up. That's exciting about the novel! You're a great writer,
so I have no doubt they will want to publish you. You'll be a full-time
writer in no time. ;o)

Lots of job purrs for you to get the supervising the computer lab job! That
and teaching the computer classes sounds like fun.

That's a shame. Is it possible to get in next year if you want to?

This sounds very good, Fil!

Well, next year I am thinking of applying to do a masters' in creative
writing via distance learning, from UBC. It is a pretty elite course
(accepting less than 20 percent of applicants) so perhaps I will also
apply here, just in case.
Those purrs...I just got TWO MORE phone calls for interviews, one this
afternoon, one next week!
Direct your kitties that it's more important to purr for interview
success/quality than QUANTITY! :)
(Thanks guys!)

Maybe our kitties are purring for you to be offered all three job, so you
can then choose the one you like best.

Wow, Purrs on the way for the job interview AND for the novel
submission! Sorry you didn't get the master's program you wanted, but
it sounds as if you're forging ahead with life, anyway.
I have worked retail. I don't plan to go back to it ever if I can help
it, unless the alternative is homelessness. It sucked, and working
retail at Christmas made me want to strangle various people, my ex-boss
being one of them.

Well, I worked in a toy store, and loved it. Toy collector, toy store,
meeting other toy lovers. it was older womens' dress clothes that
drove me utterly insane. I need to stay in my punk ubergeek
environment.
The sample chapter is due June 30. It's currently in the first stage
of edits.

Lotsa luck!!!
I've done retail. I needed sedation. In customer service I still need
sedation. My shrink is making a bundle off me.
