I know this is completely OT, but I just looked out of my window and saw a
Goldcrest, http://www.rspb.org/birds/guide/g/goldcrest/index.asp I've only
seen one once before, and that was more than 35 years ago.

What a teeny critter! We have very similar birds, here, called a
golden-crowned kinglet, and a ruby-crowned kinglet. They seem to be
the same family (Regulus).

You're right, it would be quite difficult to tell them apart. Very
pretty birds.

Oooo, the cats and I are birdwatchers, too, but for different reasons,
obviously. That's a beautiful bird; thanks for the link.

I was so thrilled last year when I saw one in my garden, that I immediately
posted to a birdwatching newsgroup! I had never seen one before.
It was in a conifer. They like conifers apparently. Good reason to keep
your leylandii!! Fine goldcrest habitat.
