Last night I went out to do a bit of grocery shopping and spotted a
package of little furry covered balls containing catnip. It was $1.00
for a 4 pack so I bought 2. I got them home pulled one of the packages
out and gave Harvey a ball. He rolled and played with this ball for a
while, when it would roll under something he would cry and being a
properly trained slave I would retrive it for him. After around 20
minutes or so, Harvey went completely nuts. Running full speed no stop
over, under, around anything in his path. Eyes wide open , Tail bushed
out, and yowling his little head off.
I had no idea that catnip would have this affect on him, I thought it
would chill him out a bit.
Skritches,
KittyLady and Harvey (who is still trying to open the cabinet were I
hid the catnip)

hehehe well, if for most cats catnip acts like weed, then maybe on
Harvey it acts like cocaine or speed. hehehehehe
Course my cats don't seem too interested in nip, although Mischief will
once in a blue moon slobber all over a fresh catnip mouse.

I thought the weed reaction would be what Harvey would get too. Man
was I so wrong.

That's hilarious! What a mental picture I got. :) Moxie ignores nip.
Daisy rolls, rubs, licks. Bonnie (RB), sweetest pussycat in the
tri-state area, would get nasty & bite. LOL

Ours usually go through a "lack of inhibition" stage. And then after a
while zonk out. We always warn each other when they have been treated cause
one can easily get bit or scratched trying to play with them.

Sounds like lack of feline inhibitions.
Catnip gets Smokey kind of excited too, and he plays rough.
The bitties eat it up and show no real change. They're usually hyper
anyway.
Catnip is a great way to get Nocturne to mellow out and be a nice kitty
instead of a b!tch queen, and is much better than her prior
stress-reliever--exhuming all the litter out of the litterboxes, onto
the floor.
