Two wet cats

I wasn't feeling all that well today, so I decided to take a bath to
relax. I started filling the tub and walked out of the bathroom. A few
minutes later, we heard some loud splashing and Basho came running into
the studio soaking wet. Poor baby jumped into the tub and got a good
soaking on very hot water. He sat there, looked at me with his "I meant
to do that" eyes and proceeded to dry himself.
I took my bath, with the usual audience of cats, including Maya who
likes to sit at the edge of the tub and paw at the water. After I
finished, I drained the tub, but I left about an inch or so of water, in
case Maya wanted to play with it. Well, we hear a commotion in the
bathroom and came in to find Fez sitting next to the tub, with a very
surprised expression in his face and 4 very wet paws. :)
10 minutes later, the same commotion and the same cat with the same
expression and the same 4 paws, wet again. I drained the tub completely
to avoid an embarrasing 3rd bath for Fez.

ROFL!  I can picture this!  What is it about cats and water?  They pretend
to hate it but are absolutely fascinated by it!

Persia walks around the edge of the tub when I'm in the shower and peers in
at me, meowing.  When I'm having a soak, she sits on the edge and tells me
how stupid I am for dunking myself in water.  But she bats at it.  And
heaven forbid I still have water on my legs when I get out... lick, lick,
lick.  Gotta dry you off, Mommy! LOL

Her fascination is the reason I had to buy her a Drinkwell fountain.  She
kept sticking her head under the running water to take a sip when I was
brushing my teeth and I was afraid I'd spit toothpaste on her head.  They
are so odd about water.

A friend has two Bengal's.  She regularly puts water in the tub for them and
they have their own bathtub toys, just like a little kid would.

I'm thinking Persia might actually like to take a dip, she's just too scared
to tell me so :)

Over the years, I have had several cats fall into the tub while
walking along the edge as I was taking a bath.  Generally, they gallop
off as if fleeing the "water monster".  On one occasion, however,
Cinders was so enjoying the stroking she had been getting before she
fell in that she just hopped back up on the edge and continued
parading back and forth, dripping wet.

Brave girl!  Each of my cats mysteriously levitated about five feet
out of the tub, when it happened to them,  then made a 90-degree angle
and shot right out of the room, pulling a significant quantity of the
bath water with them (Cf. Looney Toons ;)).

Stinky still courageously sits on the tub rim, though.

I don't know what it is, it started our first morning in Houston. I
thought it was just the fact that my in-laws keep their house colder
than we're used to, and the A/C dried my throat. But now it's been 4
days and my throat is still sore. :( I dont' have a fever or any other
symptom, so who knows what it is.

Be careful. Strep is also making the rounds.

Tee hee! =o)

My sister gave me a foot spa  for my birthday in February which is
essentially like a baby Jacuzzi that has lost it's mommy. Since Nina
has  an incredible fascination with water, and has been known to wade
right into the bathroom basin when I'm washing my face in the morning,
I thought she'd be fascinated with it. But when I bring it out to use
it, she hides under the bed, and watches me with huge scared eyes, then
slowly creeps out when she sees it hasn't eaten my feet. By the time I
finish, she's quite friendly with it. One of these days, I expect
she'll climb right in and bask. I talked to my sister on the phone last
night and thanked her for "The nice cat jacuzzi" and explained what I
meant. She thought it was hilarious. =o)
