My brain is tired from studying.

But I managed to drag myself up and haul myself to my Small Animal
Nursing lab practical, worth 50 points

25 multiple choice - Very easy, I only can pray that her lecture final
is this easy.

Station 1- IV Catheter placement - 5 pts - I think I did okay on this
one, although a fake leg with a tough rubber tube filled with red fluid
as a vein is a poor substitute for the real thing.  And thank goodness
even though i didn't get any flash of red fluid, she said that was
okay.  Then the taping was pretty easy too.

Station 2 - Bandaging - 5 pts - Bandaging is reasonably easy as long as
you keep everything neat and covered.  I placed a bandaged on a stuffed
animal and I think it was okay.

Station 3 - CPR - 10 pts - my scenario was a 16 pound obese cat that
had a thready pulse but wasn't breathing.  What do you do?  I explained
that first I would verify the respiratory arrest, but make sure that
the cat had not gone into cardiac arrest.  (I saw her nod, and I knew
that I had made a valid point)  The CPR animal dummy already had an
endotracheal tube, so all I had to do was hook him up to the machine
and perform manual breathing.  Most of everything was already set up,
all I really had to do was connect the tubing, fill the bag and start
pressing.  I think I did okay, but it was so easy, i had this feeling I
forgot something.

Station 4 - Dental Charting - 5 pts - I thought i had done okay, but it
wasn't until afterwards that I realized i had charted the wrong tooth.
*sigh*  Never ask someone who is dyslexic to chart a tooth.  Cause on a
dental chart the right is left and left is right and it doesn't help to
realize afterwards that I neglected to notice that the model was
purposely put upside down in the first place to mess us up.
Grrrrrr......  Ah, it's only 5 pts.

I was so tired by that point, i just wanted to get it overwith and get
out of there.

But overall, I think i did okay.  Now I have three hours to study for
my Small Animal Nursing Lecture final. I'm pretty confident about most
of the stuff, but I'm worried about the pharmacology.

I have three classes, but each has a lab final and a lecture final, so
if you want to get technical I have six finals.  One of them is a take
home which is good.  Urgh, i just want to get this overwith......

Will keep you updated on the rest of my finals.

Purrs that the rest will go well.  I'm betting you'll end up with high
scores all around.
