Oh dear.... Purrs needed

I managed to grab Imp to clip his claws and give him a good brushing.

He didn't like being held for the the clipping, and i accidentally cut
the tip of his pad on one toe.  Oh dear!! Then he did the same thing on
another tor on the other front foot. It was a mixture of him struggling
and me trying to hold him still and bad luck.

I feel really bad, and it wasn't bleeding too badly.  I put on some
neosporin and the bleeding pretty much stopped, but i know Imp is
really mad at me now.  I feel bad, I wasn't trying to hurt him,

He's probably licking his paws right now.  I told Kristen and we're
going to keep a close eye on him to make sure they dont' get infected.
The poor boy!!  I don't want to have to take him to work to get his
paws bandaged!!

Purrs that Imp is okay and his paws don't get infected.

Owie! Owie! Purrs for a clean heal. Maybe a nice extra treat for his booboo?
badwilson - 31 May 2005 05:08 GMT
Awww, poor Imp.  But I'm sure he'll be fine.  I once accidentally cut
into the quick while trimming Vino's claws.  He was not a happy camper
but got over it too.
Purrs,

That's why I take my time w/clipping, and it doesn't hurt to keep up a
steady patter of talk to cat during whole operation. If you do it regularly,
and treats are offered immediately on finishing, he's more likely to get
used to having claws clipped (Maluce still growls a little, Rowdy just uses
his 19# weight to kick mightily). The good side is cats have very short
memories for this kind of hurt from the slaves they love.

Yes, I trained Vino from very young kittenhood.  He doesn't struggle
at all, never meows, never complains.  In fact, he holds his paws out
for me to clip!  But this incident happened in the beginning and I had
gotten new clippers and was holding them awkwardly and my hand was
covering up my view.  But he did forgive me pretty quickly :-)

He seemed to have forgiven me this morning, when he came for scritches,
and he's not limping, but he freaked when I picked him up to check his
paws.  They seem to be healing fine, but now he's a little freaked
again.

*sigh*  at least it seems like he's okay

Now I can concentrate on my finals today

I'm glad Imp is okay.  Continued purrs :)

I so do not envy you this studying thing.  People ask me if I'd consider
going back to school.  Oh h*** no!  I don't have the energy nor inclination;
been out of school for 25 years.  I applaud your stamina (but of course you
are much younger than I am).

I've never clipped Otis's claws, didn't realise you were supposed to,
don't know anyone here in London that does it either, and he's almost
16 so it doesn't seem to have done him any harm (the furniture on the
other hand...)

Many purrs. :o)

I can't help thinking that Imp and HRFL are out of the same mold. He
gets wound up and wriggly when his claws are clipped.

I think that's probably happened to most of us here.  Purrs on the way, but
I'm sure he'll be fine!

Purrs for his pads and purrs for you too.  I'm sure you would have
rather cut yourself than Imp.

Awww, poor Imp. I'll light a healing candle on the beach in hopes that
it helps the little paws to heal quickly and without infection.
