KittyLady - 26 May 2005 14:42 GMT Last night I was watching G4 channel with my oldest daughter, it is the channel where they show all of the new video game reviews. Well they reviewed this new game, supposedly for the teenage crowd. What upsets me is the main focus of the game is street drugs and even more drugs "invented" for use in this game. What I don't understand is how can the industry be allowed to release Sh*t like this? I intend to write a rather lengthy letter to the company, as well as the T.V channel. Just needed to get this off of my chest. What the h**l right do they have to promote this cr*p.

There is a game widely available on the internet called DopeWars as well. Its like a stock trading game.

Brad - 27 May 2005 06:53 GMT >> Last night I was watching G4 channel with my oldest daughter, it is >> the channel where they show all of the new video game reviews. Well [quoted text clipped - 11 lines] >I can understand your anger. I get the feeling that some people have no >morals whatsoever. Its the same reason that "LEGAL" porn runs rampant on the internet where a child just has to check a box that says I am 18 or 21 years old........its freedom of speech to the nth degree and its about time someone with some brains reinterprets the constitution knowing that it was not designed to protect slimeballs. It all really is a difficult problem but common sense has to prevail here somewhere......if "LEGAL" porn was not allowed we could probably stamp out the pukes who are doing the kiddie porn out there too......and don't even get me started on illegal search and seizures which deep down protects innocent people .......when it doesn't allow the murder weapon to be used as evidence because it was an illegal search........AAARRGGHHH........
Sorry for the rant........

He he he, it's so funny when sense and reason are discarded just to have a good rant. The problems arise when those in power follow the same thought process due to ignorance and stupidity or for just plain power. If you have any respect for that constitution of yours shouldn't the slimeballs be those that want to take away your rights and freedoms in the name of <insert idea/action/person which is currently villified and easily used for mass abhorance> wether real or not.

Mognusticat - 26 May 2005 17:23 GMT I saw Trainspotting, a film about drugs, a few years ago.
It is a great film in its way, but I never want to see it again. It is a great film because it vividly depicts how low drugs can take you (I imagine, not having been down that path myself). That is also why I never want to see it again. It is deeply unpleasant.
It has a place though because it does not glorify drugs, it condemns them. It also has an 18 certificate (in UK).
Glorifying drugs in computer games is just stupid. These games will obviously appeal to teenagers and are just what society does not need.
So write your letter. Get a petition together! I am sure we are all with you.

As long as lotsa people buy them, they'll keep selling them. As w/drugs it's supply and demand.

Hopitus - 27 May 2005 02:18 GMT No, no, I believe you're thinking of one of the Grand Theft Auto games (several locales for sale). Gentle souls should not pursue looking into these type video games. The other day I was shopping online for a lighted keyboard and the video games were right in the same link....found one where the cop has a choice to start doing the very drugs he busted from the dealer (or he can choose not to). Personally I think most of these amusements are for adult males (one of my very own sons - a grown man - and his friends, law-abiding males who appear normal in every other way - play "roles" as medieval warriors, etc. and play "hack-em-up" Attilla-the-Hun-type PC games. It must satisfy some hormone we lack, for which I feel none the worse....

This is true, I still can't figure out the male fascination for football, boxing and especially professional wrestling. But then again, DH can't figure out why I need a cigarette* after finding a paticularly good sale on shoes! ;>
*Just kidding, come August I'll have been "clean" for 2 whole years now!!!

It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Cigs were $8 a carton then ROFL.

Once, years ago, when I quit, the gum helped me only in that it tasted so bad I would talk myself out of having a nicotine fit just so I wouldn't have to chew it! ;>

I smoked my last cigarettes on September 15, 1996. There are still days and situations where I want a cigarette so much it isn't funny. However, those have gotten fewer over time. I can laugh about my addiction now, but it really isn't that funny.

Hopitus - 27 May 2005 19:39 GMT Hang in there (Merkin expression meaning "hold fast" LOL Adrian....it gets easier but over time, not right away. When you realize a whole day (or maybe week) has gone by w/o you even thinking about ciggies, you can go somewhere and celebrate!

Hopitus - 27 May 2005 19:49 GMT Is Tom one of those who watches college football as well? I am a really vicious Broncos (I bleed orange and blue, as the local saying goes) fan but never watch any games but NFL. If you got into it like Tom, it is really a strangely romantic form of "bonding" between you. I have made friends w/some of the other tenants where I live simply by being able to discuss latest Bronco happenings/games/maneuvers whereas otherwise we would not even be nodding in the halls as we pass each other....but no, the Deadly Duo simply will not put up w/wearing cat-size jerseys during games!

In our house, it depends on the sport. We love to watch the more unconventional sports, like log rolling, dog agility, and skeet shooting. Football, baseball, and such can go hang.

I recently found out another way to give blood: sneezing while the cat is standing on my lap. She left claw marks on both legs during her mad dash out of the room. :(
