I think it's gross, they're cats, not bloody dolls, what's the matter with
people, nearly as bad as those idiots that carry miniature dogs (rats I call
em) in their handbags with clothes on.

Have to admit, dressing up cats & dogs is not my cup-of-tea either, for same
reason - the "Barbie" mindset is not one that should apply to our pets IMO.

Besides which, I have a strong suspicion that if I even attempted to inflict
such stuff on my three, I'd be nursing wounds - on  me!

No way would I even consider dressing either of the Furballs. I can see
the look Sarrasine would have on her face now- it's the "Well do you
feel lucky, punk, do ya?!" look....

For every other cat, yep, I agree.  But Bandit actually *likes* wearing
clothes!  It started out with a scarf I tied around her for fun, but then
she didn't want me to take it off.  Then I bought her a sweater:
http://www.possibleplaces.com/CatNipped/Bandit4/, when that one got old, she
got another sweater:  http://www.possibleplaces.com/CatNipped/Bandit1/, but
what she likes best is her biker hat and t-shirt:
http://www.possibleplaces.com/CatNipped/Bandit5/.

But then she's always been one weird cat!  ;>

It's not like she *needs* a sweater... I mean, all that fur, and in
Houston! :)

She's adorable, I can't wait to meet her!

Well, DH tends to keep the house at -10F (at least it feels that way to me
and Bandit)!

LOL!  You won't be thinking that after your meet her - you'll be thinking
what a b*tch cat from h*ll!  Just please don't sue me if you try to pet her
and she takes your arm off at the elbow!  ;>  I bet you get to hear her
trademark cougar scream!!!

Now, now.  Not all people dress up their tiny dogs and I found it cute when
they were shopping with tiny dogs in their handbags.  At least they didn't
leave them out in the car at 90F with the windows rolled up.  I got to play
with the dogs while they tried on clothes. (1980's)

I just have this thing about miniature dogs, I used to live in a flat
under a woman who had 3 and they yapped, I'm sure for 24 hours a day,
peed and crapped wherever they chose, and it was never cleaned up
(yuk).  They looked completely neurotic (I suppose I would be if if the
local pigoens were bigger than me) they'd bite your hand or ankle if
you deigned to go within a foot of them, I once tried to feed a Yorkie
for her, I was FEEDING it for gawdsake and it bit my hand!  Never
again...

Meanest damn dog I ever met was a Yorkie....Belonged to a friend of my
mother's and when it bit, it held on. One day it snapped at my ankle
and I swear the teeth met in the middle. So there I am dancing around
in agony trying to shake the thing off when the owner saw me and almost
fainted as she screamed "Don't hurt my little darling!"....

That's when my mother found out I knew some very rude words

When I was at the vet, I noticed the smaller dogs were the ones that
barkd the loudiest. The bigger dogs tend to be more quiet.
Maybe the smaller dogs thought noise would make up for their size?

I think dressing dogs to keep them warm in the winter is appropriate.
Afterall, it goes down to -30C here. Socks and jackets are sometimes
needed for dogs going to the Out. Otherwise I think dogs and cats
have nice fur coats that shouldn't be covered up.

I agree, fur is for animals, clothes are for humans (ah if only people
would stop thinking fur is OK to wear, it so isn't).  And another thing
I don't like is dyeing dogs fur, i.e. pink poodles, or dog/cat topiary!
I just think animals should be left au naturel unless it has a health
benefit, sorry I'm on a roll today!  Could be something to do with
having absolutely nothing to do at work and 2 more hours to kill.

I agreed. There is a celebrity in town that dyed her dog Red! She
said it is to prevent her originally white dog from being stepped on as
she has white carpet in her home. She hosts a TV pet show
with her dog. I wonder what the other dogs on the show think
of her dog.

I grew up going to dog shows, and did note that smaller dogs tend to
be more neurotic (yappy, hyper, skittish, etc.), while bigger dogs
tend to be calmer (please note uses of the phrase "tend to" (smile)).

Large dog breeds, *in general*, have been selectively bred for
temperament over many generations, because large dogs are potentially
dangerous-- note I said in general, because this isn't an exact
science, and there are other dog behaviors, such as dominance, to
consider.   Even dogs bred to fight other dogs, in general, have been
bred to be submissive to people-- otherwise they would be unhandlable.

The little guys often haven't had that background of selective
breeding, and such breeds as terriers have a very high energy level.
Little dogs also often have dominance issues-- my buddy Boswell, the
calm, placid Golden retriever, is usually beset on his walks by a
collection of yappy little dogs who are seemingly incensed at the
sight of him, and make his life miserable.

I find it almost incredible that all dogs are descended from a common
wolf ancestor and are all the same species.

Yes, yikes!  I don't think there's another species of animal with as
much physical variation as dogs.

And another thing, dogs and cats are animals, not fashion accessories
or boyfriend substitutes - so there, I shall now go back to enjoying my
PMT in silence!

I've seen this before.  Yes, adorable, but don't forget to read the

Can't speak for any member of your pride, but Felix would gleefully
lacerate anyone who *tried* this with him. ;-)

Our darling Sam.  The fighting Siamese.  Registered and earned name "Firey's
Dammit Sam"

When Vicki was born, he fell in love.  With his whole being.  This was his
idea of a perfect human.  And when she reached the appropriate age, he
allowed her to dress him in doll clothes and to wheel him up and down the
street in a doll baby carriage.

Maybe that's why he spent so much time beating up every cat in the
neighborhood.

ROFL....we are talking the likes of Paris Hilton here! I
*did* read the Nippon/English ad hype accompanying the pics and it was truly
funny, Theresa.
You must keep in mind high couture is different wherever you travel.....here
in USA we have our own fad wierdities going on (pants just above pubic area,
both male and female, bellies exposed w/various decorative piercings, dress
back slashed to one's "crack" - @ Oscar Awards, yet!)....but that one "high
school girl" look is very IN on Tokyo street looks as well as hair strange
colors and girlish tights w/schoolgirl platorms....I am dying to see what
Tak has to say about this website!
Miss Hilton's lapdog is probably sporting all these outfits and
*more*.........LOL.
