OT - Friday was a Sad Day

I haven't posted this before, because I wasn't sure exactly *how* to...
But, here goes:

On Friday, at 3:58pm (central time), a 17-year-old girl by the name of
Maggie Danielle Compton met a tragic end in a horrific automobile accident.
I knew Maggie.  She is the daughter of DH's SIL's sister (DH's brother's
wife's sister's daughter, DH's neice's cousin on their mother's side... can
I confuse you more?).

The accident was apparently her fault, as she pulled out in front of a large
pickup (think F350) that was hauling a large trailer (a 5th wheel that
contained a race car, the people were from Henderson KY and bringing it up
to Bloomington IN for sprint-car races).  Her car caught fire and she died
of smoke inhalation and 3rd degree burns.  Several witnesses (including the
driver of the pickup) to the accident attempted to put out the flames and
get her out of the vehicle, but they couldn't.  She was alone in the car,
heading to a hair appointment to have her hair done nicely for her friend's
graduation ceremony later that eening.  Passengers in the pickup only
suffered minor injuries, and are totally devasted over her death.

Earlier today, DH & I attended her funeral.  It was held at her family's
church, and there was no seats left when we arrived.  The service was nice,
and what I thought was a pale-grey woodgrained casket, was actually white,
and all her friends from school had written their good-byes to her on it. I
thought that was a nice touch, and maybe, 2,000 years from now some
archeologist will see all that and know how loved she was.

I didn't know her very well, but still..... :(

It's always particularly sad when someone dies unexpectedly.

How tragic!  Purrs for all who miss her, and for the people in the pickup.

Sorry to read this MMJ.  Purrs for that girl's family and friends and for
the family in the other vehicle.  This has to be hurting them too.
