I don't have the words to thank everybody enough for all your
compassionate messages, both here and privately. I'm the kind of person
who bottleds things up, and your messages have kept the waterworks open
for three days now, which I think is a good thing. You are really
helping me grieve my sweet little Nikki and maybe one day move on to
recall the happy memories. I've saved all your messages and read them
over and over. It's been a really cleansing experience.
As I said, I don't really believe in an afterlife, but I do know that
energy is constant; it may change form but never disappears completely.
So when Nikki is cremated, her energy is released on the world, and
maybe some day, I'll meet another feisty little tuxedo girl, with saucer
eyes and back legs that are a few sizes too large for her body, an
accomplished huntress who's not afraid to dive into water after her
prey, who'll wrap not just me but all other cats in the household as
well as her Grandmeowmie around her little paw, a petite ladycat who
wears a kink in her tail sometimes as the mood hits her, or at other
times fluffs up random parts it. A little girl who will eat with her
paws or carry her food around and leave it in the middle of the floor.
Until then, I'll just have to look back at all the good times I (we) had
with Nikki.
Thanks again for all your love and support.

You'll know it when you meet her. And maybe she won't be a tuxedo, but will
be Nikki inside.

What a beautiful post. I have a theory, by the way, that once love
has been created it never dies. It just floats around waiting to fill
other lucky creatures. Somehow this helped me when I lost my
first cat who was 20.
