Hey gang,

Some of you might remember that at my school, Pierce College, our RVT
program has program animals that we take care of every semester

Each semester we adopt animals for the students to take care of during
the semester.  The cats and dogs get a ton of attention and loving
care, and we students get to practice things like restraining, clipping
toenails, drawing blood, etc.  At the end of the semester we find homes
for the animals.

Well we are currently having problems trying to find a home for Tinta.
We've asked around and nobody seems to want her. She is a year old,
black DSH that just loves to be scritched and loved.  She's a little
shy about being picked up but she loves attention.  Also, she's shy at
first, but loves the company of other cats. I've found her curled up
with the other program cat, Elvis, a few times.  Elvis I believe might
be going home with one of my classmates, but so far no one i've talked
to, at work, or at school is interested in a cat.

Now, I was the one that saved Tinta from the shelter and the last thing
I want is for her to go back there.  I'm only supposed to have one cat,
and I have Imp and Mischief.  I'm kinda talking my roommate into
allowing me to foster her until we can find a home for her.  (she's
very reluctant, because she knows too well about a cat coming in
temporarily and then staying.  That's what happened with Mischief)

We cannot have three cats.  I know those seem like famous last words,
but we seriously cannot.  It's fortunate enough that Imp is so shy and
quiet that nobody here knows about him.  But Tinta can be a talker, and
Kristen and I could get evicted.  The landlord has a no pets rule, but
made a special exception for us and ONE cat.  Money is short enough
already, and three indoor cats would be just too much for us in our 2
bedroom apartment.

I currently live in Van Nuys, in the Los Angeles area of California,
and I need help.  I need people to spread the word to find a home for
this kitty.  My professor and fellow students want her to go straight
to a good home, not to a shelter or a rescue.  I am willing to take a
big risk and foster her, but i need to find a home for her, because as
much as I love her, i cannot keep her permanently.

Not to mention that Mischief is going to go completely BALLISTIC when I
bring her home!!!  My roommate and I have decided to bring her home
tomorrow to see what happens.  Cause if the fur really starts to fly,
then we really can't even foster her.

Please help or send purrs.....
email me at krysfamulan@yahoo.com, if you think you know someone who
can help.

Hi, we used to live in the SFV and still have a lot of friends there. One
set specifically living in the CP or is it now 'West Hills' area.  Anyway,
I'm going to forward your post to several of them, and if I get any takers,
I'll have them contact you directly, or thru me if they turn shy (I kind of
doubt that!).

I just talked to my professor, and she said that another student might
have found a foster home for both Tinta and Elvis the other program
cat.

i'm happy and yet confused.  I could have sworn Elvis was spoken for.
He's a year old DLH that's brown and white.  He's got the most
adorable, big fluffy paws.

So I guess now we need to find a home for Elvis too.  They go very well
together, but I think they would be okay if they were separated too.
Follow the same link to go to his picture

I still stand by my original plan to foster Tinta if necessary.  But
now i'm worried about both kitties, i certainly hope they find homes

Thank you for forwarding the message to your friends

UPDATE:
I just found out this morning that Tinta and Elivs have found a foster
home with a student who helps run a cat rescue.  It's not precisely
what I wanted, but at least they'll have a home.  Purrs that they find
a loving permanent home

But if anyone finds people looking to adopt a kitty, let me know and
I'll forward the information.  Thanks!

Can they be used again next semester if they don't get homes over the
summer?  It seems a shame to adopt additional cats when you already may
have 2 that need homes.

We had to do that once when a cat that we found a home for didn't work
out.

Ireland was a sweet female cat we had in fall 2003, and we found a hoe
for her, but over the winter break the other cat in the household was
just terrorizing her, so we took her back for the Spring semester.

It's a slight hassle, because the poor cat has the spend another whole
semester in the cat room, getting picked up, poked and prodded by the
students.  It's more for the cat's wellbeing.  in exchange for putting
up with what we put them through they should get a nice home and an
owner who loves them.

Oh, I understand, I was just thinking it would be preferable to going
back to the shelter as you mentioned...particularly if it's a kill
shelter...that would be really unfair.  I hope they both get wonderful
homes.

A house is not a home, without a cat.

Hi, I confess I'm sorely tempted!  I've hesitated about getting another
pet, since Patches died.  I'm not so young anymore, and although some
"senior" buildings will accept ONE small pet, two might be a problem.
(I've reached an age where I realize I may not WANT to continue working
much longer, able or not, and living on my "retirement" income will
require some serious retrenching.)

On the other hand, Melisande has been very lonely since Patches went to
the happy hunting grounds - she'd never been an "only cat" before, and
hasn't really adjusted well to it.  I got her as a quite young kitten
from an acquaintance whom she followed home after he rescued her from
some woman who was trying to chase her away by turning a hose on her. He
could not keep her because they already had six cats and two dogs, but
by the time I took her, she was certainly used to being with other
animals.  She cannot go outside, as my cats did before I moved to an
apartment, so she is alone most of the time, and I don't really have
that much time to devote to her when I'm home.

I assume - coming from a veterinary establishment - that Tinta has been
spayed?  I live in Valley Village, which isn't all that far from Van
Nuys (although I'm sort of planning to move, when I get back from my
vacation, the end of June).  I don't make any promises, because there
are several factors involved, but why don't you e-mail me with your
phone number, and we can talk about it?  I'm writing this from work, so
don't use the return e-mail address on this posting.  My home e-mail is
evgmsop@earthlink.net.
