Well, I've been unemployed for two whole weeks now. Very few job
postings that match my resume, and no nibbles on those.

A couple of times a day, I lie down for a few minutes, to read the
group on my Treo. Little Feet cuddle up under my arm, and dozes off
with his head on my bicep.

Buster gets more time to sit in my lap, while I search the job boards,
and look for new sources of job postings.

Dulce may gets more chances to be petted when I make bathroom or
beverage runs, or just happen to walk past her napping spot atop the
cat tower.

Now, I've got this theory...

All three cats are getting a lot more attention while I'm home. All
three cats seem to be enjoying this attention.

I'm really hoping they are not purringto KEEP me home. I did tell them
yesterday, that they really need to purr for me to get a job, so I can
continue to buy their food. Little Feet just grinned as if to say,
"You'll just have to find a way to feed us...".

I'm doomed.

Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

Youll be fine Mark, really you will

I'm under a lot of stress from my schoolwork.  I'm not working out, my
diet has gone out the window, i'm not making a lot of money, and my
kitties are wanting to be fed too.  I'm trying to keep my cool and  ye
somehow i know things will work out.

If things can work out for me, it can work out for you....

Oooh, we all know the Power of the Purr. I think you'll just have to
resign yourself to be a stay-at-home Paw from now on, Mark. ;o) My three
are purring for you to find a job soon, but I don't know if their purrs
are strong enough to counteract those of your three.

Lucky you, I say!  Oscar is clearly disgusted that I'm not out of the
house.  She mostly avoids me during the day, just to make it clear
that she has things to do and I'd best not get any bright ideas.

I've got my six (jeez, how did we end up with SIX?) working on a new
purr plan. There's an outfit in Tempe that's looking for a programmer to
telecommute. Even if I had to drive to AZ a couple times a month, I
could get in to telecommuting. It doesn't pay as well as the other jobs
I've interviewed for, but for something where I could work from home
again I could live with that. And the kitties would certainly not mind
having a human slave around all day.

You know...I get the same feeling from my cats. Robin, especially. He
gets clingy and underfoot when I get dressed to go out. And he tries
to put holes in my nylons. Hmmm...maybe I better have a talk with him
about making money for his dinner.

Felix just tries to make me late for the train in the morning by doing
the "Mommy Mommy I love you I love you cuddle me cuddle me" bit,
complete with huge-eyed adoring look he knows turns me to mush :-).
(When I get home in the evening, he just gives me the "oh, it's you"
bit.)

Is THAT why John's been so lucky about finding new jobs (twice)? The
girls are smart enough to know that he has to work to bring home the
kibble and she has no intention of going hungry!

They were rather puzzled that he was at home yesterday... they've got
used to him running out the door at 7.30am on the dot with no time to
do more than scritch their heads on the way out... but no more. This
new job has a much later start and an earlier finish. We might
actually get to spend some time together outside of weekends!

I really hope you find something soon... and the same goes for
everyone else looking for employment. I know how sucky it is to not be
able to get something (when it was my turn, I never did manage to find
a decent job...)
