Hi everyone,

Flippy forwarded me an email from a Janet Hayward on Sunday, who was asking
Flippy for permission to use one of my stories in a book of hers.

Flippy of course said it wasn't up to her, and Janet needed the author's
permission, ie, *mine*.

So I wrote a nice e-mail to the address "Janet" used to e-mail Flippy on
Monday, asking her to ring me at work to sort out the details (i included my
genuine day time phone number). Since the first draft of the book was due at
the publisher's this Friday, I figured I'd have heard from her by now.

I haven't.

I'm getting suspicious.

Did anyone else get a similar message via Flippy in the last week or so? I
mean, "Pusskin the Hero", is not, IMHO, one of my best stories, and it
certainly isn't the only story of Flippy's web page that talks about cats
who have done something brave, have rescued someone or indeed, have saved
someone's life. Whilst Janet claims to be in Sydney, Australia, and it may
well be that she has only selected Australian stories, it just doesn't quite
sit right with me.

Any insight or help would be appreciated.

No similar message here.

I haven't received any such email. Do you know the publisher's details,
and/or book title? I would contact the publisher directly to find out
more.

I personally can't imagine anyone adding anything to a book this close to a
deadline.

Depends upon what the "deadline" is for - if it's the final
date for accepting material to be included in a compilation
(which will subsequently require editing), that would make
sense.

Nothing here either.

Bridget owned and operated by the Wonderous Service Animals. (they made
me type that in all caps)

"Yowie" <yowie9644.DIESPAMDIE@yahoo.com.au> had some very interesting
things to say about Book offer?:

Haven't heard from her.

Well, I owe Janet Hayward a very big apology. She called me just then, and
is a really sweet and genuine person. I think we talked for about 40
minutes, nattering away etc etc. She's got the book done, but as she said,
if she can fit another story about heroic cats in before it is sent off for
its first review (or whatever the first submission is called), she'd like
to. Fair enough. I know that when I've had a "due date" I'm still working on
the thing right up till the last minute.

I'm glad that my suspicions were for naught.

Glad it got worked out.  I'd love to know the name of the book once it
is out. :)

The title, so far, is "Living Proof - Cats Do Have Nine Lives". It will be
published by Exisle publishing, the author will be Janet Hayward. Due to be
published in September this year.

I'm glad you were wrong. ;-) The book sounds like it will be worth
reading, I wonder if it will be published in Britain.
