I have been missing my Sassy so much lately that my husband took me to
the shelter last night to look for another kitty. My life feels empty
without a furbaby. That have nearly 30 kittys, both bitties and
adults,looking for homes.
I was nervous about going to look at them, but when I got there I
wanted to take all of them home. It broke my heart to see all of these
kitties homeless.
I decided on a black kitty who looks like he is wearing a suit. His
name is Harvey, he is 2 years old, fixed and all. I choose Harvey
because he was so shy and hung out in the back of the dreadful cage
they had him in. When I picked him up, he just started purring. I was
hooked.
Harvey has a nasty ear infection now, but the shelter says I can come
and pick him up on Friday evening. I am so excited!

That sounds great! Do you think you would be able to adopt Harvey a
playmate?

I may adopt a playmate for him after he has had a chance to settle in,
I am not sure about it. Harvey seems so shy, I am not sure if he would
want another kitty around.

And some kitties don't. Go with your instincts. I'm glad you found Harvey!
Can't wait for pics and Harvey tales :)

Hooray!! Congratulations on your new furbaby! =o) Harvey sounds like a very
handsome fellow, and I'm sure he'll be grateful to get out of that cage to
go to a proper home where he'll be loved. As Jill says, follow your
instincts about finding a companion for Harvey after he's had time to settle
down. He might be one of those cats who needs to be an 'only' cat. Or he
may really love having a companion when you have to be gone, and the kids
are in school. I know though that it's TERRIBLY hard not to want to rescue
all those deserving souls who are lonely and in need of a new home.

I knew that Frank needed a friend when he started sitting in a corner
and just staring emptily at the wall. I used to be away from home a lot
at that time, and it was obvious that he was lonely and maybe even a
little depressed. So I got him Nikki, and they were soon the best of
friends. I'm sure you'll know if Harvey wants a kitty friend or not.

I can't wait to see pics of Harvey! Congratulations!
Nocturne was shy when we adopted her. She spent the first two days
under the bed. Now she is happy being house-tyrant and lording it over
the other three (And us)

I know exatly what you mean about all those kitties needing a home.
I'm still shopping for homes for Spotty and her kits. I've pretty much
been telling everyone about them. Today I ran across someone in pretty
much the same situation. He recently found three abondoned kits. He
lives in a no pet apartment complex, so took them to our city shelter.
Didn't leave them, thankfully, as it was full and is NOT a no kill
shelter - said he thinks he was told they only hold them for 48 hours,
but wasn't sure. He called up our local no kill place, also full, and
was put on a waiting list. So for he's found homes for two, but he's
still trying to home the third.

Oooh, another tuxedo Harvey? This is how Betty got picked, too. She
was a shy, quiet girl who kept to the back of her cage. As I was
bringing her home from the shelter, I figured that I would let her
have her space, but as soon as I opened her little box, I was mobbed
by purring and headbutting, and continue to be smothered to this day.
