We have a lovely bay window in our kitchen eating area, which overlooks
the backyard and bird feeder. There is a bracket mounted on the outside
of the window for hanging flower baskets or such things. At the sound of
some rather agitated cheeping this afternoon, I looked up to see a
bedraggled but highly indignant male cardinal perched on the bracket,
looking in. I suspect he was arguing with his reflection.
I looked around for cats to see if they would be interested (from the
inside). There was Pippin, lounging like a pharaoh...on the kitchen
table... not four feet from the window...his back turned to the bird!
He was vigorously ignoring the bird and my waggling finger and my "Look
Pip! A bird!". I can only surmise that on Pippin's outside adventures,
this particular cardinal has taunted and teased him (I've seen the
little guy attacking big blue jays) and Pippin decided that he wouldn't
have to be humiliated doing his catly duties if he could use his powers
to convince me that the Bird Wasn't Really There.
Cheers and hugs to those who need them.

Hah! We have a robin this spring that likes to strut on the deck railing,
especially at noon time. Today he had flown off, and was out on the grass.
Sugar didn't see him, so I was petting her and pointing. She did finally see
him! She had been purring and all the sudden I could feel her change to
"Kacking". It does work sometimes!
