At what age do adult cat teeth start replacing baby cat teeth?

Because IBKFergus has taken to being a feline hole punch on anythign made of
carboard - there's kitty tooth marks *everywhere*.

Or are IBKFergus and The Yowlet just more psychically linked than I had
previously thought (because The Yowlet chews everything too)?

We were told one of our Ferals we took in was over six months because she
had her permanent teeth.

I don't know exactly, but Mere is chewing everything, too. She's five
months old. This morning I caught her chewing on the corners of Murder
Most Feline. :o/

Her's won't be the only kitty-tooth-marks!  Mimi, Moe, Ernie, Weeble and
their adopted-out sisfur, Minnie, all left a few teeth-marks on it, long
before I sent it on to Jill!

Think of it as a "kitty signature" :)  Oh, and Marina, don't forget to sign
the inside cover and put your location before you send it along.

I suspected someone had been there before Mere. ;o) Usually I'm very
careful with borrowed books, and even try to keep them free of cat hair,
but this time I thought other readers might get a kick out of finding
stray black and/or grey/blue ones between the pages.

Amigo (RB) was a great "cover biter". I did not have ONE paperback in
college that did not have four perfect holes in it. Just one CHOMP. Some had
more. But it was funny, mostly he would just bite down and leave a perfect
cat mouth imprint. If he did more, he just moved up the edge and bit down
again leaving another perfect feline bite impression. Only thing I can ever
recall him chewing on!

My owners didn't chew on it, but they rubbed up against it, loved on it,
read it, and QC slept on it at least once.  All bets are off with the
other one, I'd had it for some time before mailing it out.

Pam S. who probably should be worried right now

Mere loved the other book. She hugged it and rubbed herself all over it.
It's waiting on my bedside table for me to finish Murder Most Feline,
but Mere keeps pushing it to the floor and then she lies there, hugging
it and kissing it.

Betty used to insist on scent marking a used book I got, rubbing her
face on it.  I don't think she was interested in the subject or the
title ("Business in Society"), so I thought that maybe the previous
owner also had a cat, and its scent was on the book.  Pam's books
would be a good test of this theory!

This book *must* be good if the kitties all give it their seal of approval
maybe one day I might get a look at it.   Jean.

My cats have to scent mark every book I bring into the house.  At least
they don't pee on them, the way Pumpkin MIA, Amanda's second kitty, did.
I still have books that have been marked by "the Grand Whizzer," that I'd
like to get rid of, but can't because they are out of print.

Watch it Marina.  Mere may be chewing over some of the methods described in
the book.

According to my dental notes, permanent kitty teath start coming in at
about 3-4 months

The permanent incisors come in at 3-4 months and the canines, premolars
and molars come in at 5-6 months

when I adopted Imp he was 5 month's old and he loved to chew on

Persia is probably 6 years old and she still chews on cardboard.  Seems
every time I vacuum she finds a box to chew on and I find cardboard bits all
over the place.  Thank goodness she never discovered the toilet paper snake!

Tell Persia that the toilet paper snake has a cardboard center. :)

Oh she knows about that!  She loves to play with them!  But she doesn't bite
them, just bats them around and bunny kicks them into submission.

The thing that Wilson liked chewing on best, and still does occasionally
are my draft excluder sausage dogs, and leaving trails of sawdust,
I keep sticking sticky tape on them but after a while I have to replace them
he's got his own on the veranda but he prefers the ones inside.   I never
seem to notice when they 'shed' their teeth, all I find are dropped claw
sheaths, I think he must leave his baby in embedded in me as he is always
biting me,he just came while I was typing this and when I reached down to
pat him, all I got for my trouble was all four legs wrapped round my hand
and arm, and his teeth digging in, if I lift my arm up he just hangs on and
I find myself lifting him as well. just tell them to practice their biting
on each other, and I'm smirking because my new baby can't do any biting yet
although she tries real hard    Hugs  Jean.  K to C {and IBK Fergus.

My long-lost Cassandra (RB) used to love to perforate the edges of
photographs. She would nibble on any she found sitting loose, and kept
it up until she went to the Bridge at the age of 12.

I think Vino was about 6 months old when I found one of his baby fangs
on the tile floor.  I still have it in a tiny ziplock bag :-)

My Anna is 7 years and she still likes to chew on cardboard,
especially in the form of a box.
