How do I get my jealous dog Eddie to stop snapping at the new, tiny
kitten Buffy?

Buffy just wants love and cuddles and for the big hairy things not to
intefere with her busy schedule of poinging.

P.S. Yes, I got a new cat.

Is this a warning-type action, or do you think your dog would actually
hurt the kitten?

Either way, I'd suggest keeping the two apart when you're not there to
supervise, at least until your tiny kitten isn't tiny anymore and can
actually escape or defend herself.

I'd also be sure to provide her with elevated places to which she can
escape without the dog following her.

I guess I would keep Eddie on a leash when around the kitten. Admonishing NO
whenever Eddie gets snappy. (Is Eddie very big? or a terrier type?)
Definitely have two people so that no accidents can happen. Expose in small
doses until this behavior goes away. Lavish attention on Eddie when being
good, especially in front of the kitten. We never had too much trouble with
kitten dog intros (or even cat dog intros), but I would guess it may take a
while before they can be together. (Congrats on kitty)

You have been lucky.  Or to put it another way, if someone is doing a dog
kitten intro, being the one holding the dog is OK.  Don't let anyone talk
you into being the one holding the kitten.  (kitten most likely doesn't need
to be held in any case)

A two pound kitten can peel most of the skin off your back.

When Isis and Fugazi were kittens a friend brought his d*g round. Now
Boris was a friendly d*g (apart from her pleasure at seeing me leading
her to pee on my shoes a few times when she was a puppy) so she decided
to investigate...

Moments later, we had a yelping d*g and Fugazi bounced up and ran
straight over Dave's legs...he was wearing shorts...

This means I can add that a two pound kitten can take all of the skin
off your thighs

Does Eddie have a history of not tolerating cats?  MLB

Congrats on becoming owned by Buffy.  I suggest that Eddie not allowed
to be alone with Buffy until Buffy is much older and able to take on the
responsibilities of d*g training?  Please tell us more about Buffy and
how she gets along with Eddie.

Buffy has elevated spaces to escape Eddie and Louie.

Now that I think about it, Eddie is just getting jealous. As if he is
telling the cat 'Hey! My turn with the human'.

I don't think Eddie would hurt the cat, he knows full well that we like
the cat.

Eddie has dealt with cats before. It was usually a 'You stay out of my
way, I'll stay out of your way' deal. But it's been older cats. A
poinging kitty probably gets on his nerves now that Eddie is a
grey-snouted old fart.

I'm serious here, Eddie knows the word "No". Say "noooooo"  if he gets
snappy and really praise him when he is good. YOu really can teach and old
fart dog too.
