I think the machinery here is on it's last chip, so to speak. The screen's
losing its ability to do red, but then it is three years older than dirt. I
haven't been here in a good week or so because Louie and I have been
spending our evenings trying to get a new one built. (yes, built. We have a
buddy who is to computers what chopper guys are to motorcycles.)

I almost came home with a tiny kitten the other day. My friend Nancy and I
went to the mall where a shelter was showing a mama cat and her six bitties.
Omigawd, I now understand what the "KF warning" means! There was a gray
tuxie in there who was just lovely, and I have a great weakness for fellas
in formalwear. Nancy had to drag me off by the ear while the shelter ladies
whipped out cell phones to call Louie.

I'm happy to report that, after spending too much money on stuff I don't
need, all six babies and Mama were tagged for adoption.

Blessed be,
Baha

Sorry to say I didn't really miss you, but only because I've been an
infrequent visitor here myself lately. One thing about having to put
my old truck in the shop for a new clutch is that it's given me a
chance to catch up here. Also, being home the past two days may have
been a factor in Spotty deciding to bring her babies over (if you
don't know about that see my other posts under Spotty babies).

Anyway, I totally understand KF myself. Spot's kits are just about the
age LB's were when they went to their forever homes (except for Sammy,
of course, who didn't have to leave here to be home). Glad to hear the
shelter babes and mom were all adopted, and many purrs that the
families they went to deserve them.

Baha,

Typically the inability to do red is just the monitor, not the graphics
card.  I not-infrequently see monitors advertised on my local freecycle
list; in fact, I got a small one for my servers that way.

Maybe you could get a free monitor and see if that fixes the problems?

Another possibility would be to get a friend to bring their computer
monitor over long enough for you to hook it up and see if it has the
same problem.  Also, check your video cable to see if one of the pins
might be bent and not making a good connection.

Sure, but that's cheating ...

Er, what he said.
