Well, it's hairball season in Colorado.
Apparently the factory that produces Wellness Turkey-related foods was
shut down temporarily, and so the local distributor is out of the
stuff. Consequently, the 5.5oz cans are nowhere to be found. I've
reluctantly been buying the 12.5oz cans so that Oscar will eat, but
only two or three at a time so that I can switch back to the smaller
cans ASAP. So I'm at the store a lot. I guess it's a good thing that
I'm unemployed and have so much free time *cough*
Anyhoo ... went to the local pet specialty store, Four Paws & Co., and
saw the Zoom Groom. They were out of the feline version, but the
owner said it's the same as the canine one, just with a different
graphic. Despite having just been laid off, I decided that the chance
that Oscar would allow herself to be brushed was just too good to pass
up; our carpet doesn't need any more abuse.
And ... I LIKE it. Oscar ... she likes it. Sort of. She acts like
she's being pet, which is to say, she likes it at first, then gets
really excited, then without warning lashes out angrily. In the
meantime, though, I've harvested some goodly-sized clumps of fur from
her. Not only does the brush grab some loose fur, but it also seems
to pull even more fur up to the surface, where I can easily just
snatch it off of Oscar. It's tons more effective than any other
brush I've tried.

Thanks from here too. Although I may trip over Jake yet. He loves his Zoom
Groom. And keeps walking around and flopping on the floor in front of me.
After three really good brushings, he's quit shedding. Now we are just
brushing for fun.
I've got arthritis in my hands and this is the first brush I've been able to
use without discomfort.
The boys say Molly likes the brush too. I wouldn't know. She isn't about
to let ME groom her. I have to beg to be allowed to pet her highness. But
she is a shameless slut where my grandson's are concerned.

That's something I hadn't considered. That's great news!

The thanks really goes to my friend Camille in New York who was so
impressed with hers that she bought me one and sent it as an early Yule
present.
We're loving ours, too. It's very rare that I actually get excited
about products...but this thing is worth every cent.

Out of curiosity I checked if they are available in Finland, and they
*are*!
They're apparently imported by http://www.shetland.fi/ The Zoom Groom
can be found under "Kong lelut" - Kong toys. But they're only a
wholesale company.
I found one retail shop on the net that had it too: www.rassel.fi and
the Zoom Groom at http://www.rassel.fi/tuotteet/2/16/2602.phtml
It's kinda expensive tho, costing 9,90 Euros (USD 12.50 or GBP 6.76).
But hey! The three brushes I have aren't very useful as they make the
kitties fluff up with static electricity and go Snap, Crackle, Pop like
Rice Crispies (groan), and if this Zoom Groom doesn't make the cats' fur
crackle with static electricity, they'd let me brush them more often.
They *do* like to be brushed, but don't like snapping and popping...

I wouldn't say that ... there does seem to be a lot of static
electricity generated, but you need fewer strokes to get the job done,
it seems.

It's overstimulation. Fin used to do that. The trick is to brush
and brush, but stop just before she lashes out.
Good luck.

Yeah, I know. With Oscar, though, it's very hard to tell when she's
going to get upset. Sometimes it's instantly; other times she's happy
for ten minutes or more. Her tail is always lashing, so that's only
slightly helpful.
