I am so stressed out it's not funny. I had a job interview with the
Environment Agency on Thursday last week, and the interview was an hour
long rather than 40 minutes, which everyone said was a good sign. At
the interview, the guy said he'd let me know in the next few days. It's
Wednesday, and there is still nothing in the post, so I caved and rang
up. He's in a meeting and has to ring me back. So far, no phone call
:o(
It doesn't help matters that I agreed to do a friend of a friend a
favour yesterday. Kerry is a close friend of a good friend of mine and
she needs an advocate to sit with her and act like a regular pitbull in
a PhD Appeal hearing on Thursday, where she has been used as a scape
goat by the University against her professor. It turns out, that she is
the regional manager for the job I went for at the Environment Agency.
She *apparently* has had no input into who is being recruited, but she
did tell me that there were over 200 applicants, and the shortlist was
narrowed down to 4 very strong applicants - one of whom was the BBC
Wales weatherman who works for floodline. So, I've kinda managed to
convince myself that I haven't got the job, but I don't want to REALLY
convince myself until I've spoken to the guy at the Environment Agency.
I just wish they wuld hurry up and tell me already. I really need/want
this job as it would suit me down to the ground. GAH!!! HURRY UP AND
RING ME ALREADY!!!

Lots and lots of purrs.
I sympathize with you; I REALLY hate waiting and indecision. I'd much
rather get the news right away, good or bad. But I hope in your case it
will be good.

I'm in the same boat after a fashion. Went to 2 agencies last week and
they said they'd let me know in a few days. (One even said "If you
haven't heard from us by late afternoon tomorrow call us" of course
when I did they hadn't heard anything so I told them to call/email with
any news since my mobile phone costs a bomb to use- that was last
Thursday- no news yet) Luckily they are both jobs where I could take it
or leave it- I only want to leave where I am now as it is only a matter
of time before I slap down a co-worker who is determined to prove his
theory on people, which is best summed up as "since everyone in the
World are bastards and out to screw me- I had better be a bastard and
screw them before they can do it to me"
Please let us know when you hear and purrs that it will be good news
are on the way

Purrs for your nerves, Helen. I know how you feel. After seeing who had
applied for the positions I sought earlier this year, I was pretty sure
I wouldn't get them, and I didn't, but they didn't let me know until
about a *month* later.
