As I'm still quite new in here, could you let me know what you mean by
RB or the bridge, when a cat has died - is it a religious term, only
I've never heard it said before. Just wondering - thanks.

Outside the context of deceased pets, "rainbow bridge" refers to
Birfrost - the flaming rainbow bridge between Asgard (the realm of the
Aesir gods) and Midgard (the realm of mankind) over which fallen
warriers are conducted by Valkyries on their way to Valhalla. The
image of a bridge joining Heaven and Earth that the dead must cross is
found in many religions.

The FAQ for this group (which needs some updating) can be found at
http://www.angelfire.com/mt/yowie/catfaq.htm
It explains many of the terms we use.
Sorry about the pop-ups, I'll get around to moving it to a real web page one
day.
Others have adequately answered what Rainbow Bridge means, so I won't repeat
it.

I guess it is technically religious, since many folks here believe
animals have souls, but it's a religious term a whole bunch of
different religions agree on :)
