I put down just now, in case the cats might like it, something I hadn't
eaten from a few days ago I had in the fridge as I haven't much appetite at
the moment.
In a Pyrex casserole dish was slices of pork, green beans, carrot, mashed
potato and parsnip.
Boyfriend examined it and declared the whole lot disgusting.  Kitty FC
started to scarf down on the beans first of all, then everything else.
Which proves how she had survived so long without a home and he was thin
until he came here.
He looked at the pork, and the veg.  He said I never eat that sort of thing,
I like Whiskas pouches..
Kitty was glad since she got the whole lot to herself and her tummy is so
full she can hardly move.  She is now snoring in front of the fire. :-)

Awwwww.  I wanna see pictures of sleepy Kitty FC with the full tummy!  And
as for Boyfriend, I'm sure he was simply being gallant. (chuckling)

I do wish I had a digicam and could show you!  She is mega-snoring with a
tummy that is so full she will only be able to go out tomorrow.

BF is a darling and gallant would not be out of the question.

Otis does this funny thing.  He's not allowed treats anymore cos of his
health problems, and besides which we're vegetarian, so it would be
beneath him to beg.  However, we sometimes have Tivali sausages which
smell like the real deal, so he always begs for some, I cut off a tiny
bit which he takes (with his mouth) walks away, realises what it is
(again, you'd think he'd be wise to it by now), spits it out and uses
it as a football until it goes somewhere like under the sofa, where I
find it, nicely mouldy and covered in hair the next time I hoover, mmm!

LOL!  Poor deceived kitty!

I do have to ask though, why do vegetarians buy "meat substitutes"?  If you
don't want to eat meat, that's fine, but why make food from soy products
seem like meat?  Like sausages?  Like burgers?  Like bacon?  I don't
understand this.  Of course, I also don't understand non-alcoholic beer and
wine. <G>

In a lot of cases the meat substitutes are also a high protein addition to
the diet.  Tofu gets boring.  So you get the soy and gluten based
substitutes to add protein to your diet.  It isn't easy to get complete
protein in a vegetarian diet.  Particularly one that excludes dairy and eggs
and fish.

They also add variety to the diet and enable you to cook familiar recipes.

I was all grown up before I realized one problem I had as a kid was a mild
gluten allergy.    Bread isn't enough to trigger it.   Fake meat is.

I suppose basically I never went off the taste, just where it comes
from.  We don't eat that much of it, normally if we want a "sausage"
shaped food, we make it ourselves out of tofu, veggies, beans etc., but
sometimes I crave the flavour of meat (yes I know I'm weird but there
you are!).

Mind you, I don't understand non-alcoholic beers, tastes even worse
than real beer which I hate, and there's so many nice non-alcoholic
drinks in pubs at the moment, but I think men mostly drink it to blend
in with their mates, I don't know any women who drink it personally.

lol, we're vegetarians too, and the cats have finally learned not to beg.
Fenda (RB, bless  her) used to beg for cheese and cottage cheese whenever we
opened the fridge door, but the boys aren't interested in it, and we've
stopped eating most dairy products now anyway.

Cav still licks the plate clean if I've had Marmite and toast though.

I forgot about that, my partners cat Roots loves Marmite, we sent
Marmite a video of her doing it, but they didn't reply - quel surprise!

Oh, what nice little treats he leaves you! I'm a vegetarian, too, and
the older cats know that. Sometimes Frank begs anyway, because he likes
some vegetables (like tinned peas and maize). Mere hasn't learned yet
that Meowmie never has meat on her plate, or maybe she just likes veggie
food. One day, she happily ate some penne in tomato sauce. Another day
she tasted a slice of cucumber. just as well, since she won't eat wet or
dry cat food, only fresh meat. I know she doesn't need veggies, but
she's getting some anyway. Oh, and all the cats love and uncooked stick
of spaghetti! Not just to play with, but to chew on.

HRFL Tiger begs because it's his role in life to be a fat pig!

Stinky always begs, because he's like a guy in a singles bar-- "Hey,
you don't ask, you don't get."  ;)

Just goes to show, when it comes to people food and cats, there's no
accounting for taste.  You never know what mine are going to eat
though it seems that whatever it is, at least one of  them will want a
sniff before passing on it.

Aww! Kitty certainly knows how to look after herself.
