I don't always post to individual messages requesting purrs, but that's
doesn't mean that the Enigmatic Eight isn't purring for you!
They are currently purring overtime for Tweed, who need them for emotional
support as well as for Jill's dad's surgery to have corrected the problem,
for Catnipped, Dan M, and everyone else seeking employment.
Now here's my request:
My brother called me yesterday, seems his wife (my SIL) fell at work and
dislocated her knee! Bro said they couldn't even find her kneecap until
they had the Big Burly Dudes play tug of war with her leg (fortunately, SIL
was out when they did this), and it went *POP* and re-appeared. In
dislocating it she tore the ACL and will have to have surgery to repair it
(may have already, Bro didn't specify - he was calling me while he was at
work (not something he normally does) and was a bit pressed for time)... My
niece, who is 18 and will be graduating from high school later this month,
had this same surgery last year and bounced back quickly, but SIL is about
45 and, well, quite a bit more fluffy than her gymnastic &
basketball-playing teenage daughter.
Anyway while the kneecap was hiding where ever it was, it was apparently
putting a lot of pressure on a blood vessel, which caused a clot/blockage -
so they did surgery to correct that, fortunately the clot/blockage wasn't as
bad as they had thought, so no bypass was necessary.
And to top it all off, Mom will be heading out there to visit for two weeks
(she leaves a week from today), specifically for Niece's graduation, but she
is dismayed that she will end up playing 'nursemaid' to her my SIL - a
concept I literally laughed at. Mom, who could have been a Marine Drill
Sergeant??? A Nursemaid??? ROFLWTIME My SIL may have to have an additional
surgery to have Mom's foot removed from her nether region....
OK, I exaggerate, Mom was never that strict with us as kids, but she doesn't
have much sympathy for an adult, especially when said adult has been known
to 'play sick' in the past, just to get attention. Also, she will probably
boot the kids around some (Bro has one daughter, 18 and a son, 15), and get
them helping their mother more than they're used to.
Well, at least *I* don't have to play nursemaid.....

Many, many purrs and ouchies of understanding for SIL's kneecap injury.
Many, many soothing purrs for Mother to "relax" a bit.

Sounds kind of like fate! SIL will *want* to get better ASAP! Purrs for a
very good surgery.

My Bro lives in New Mexico, and I'm (and so is Mom) in Indiana, so *I'm* not
about to go running out there to help (or hinder) Bro & family in any way.
I'm sure Bro has his wife's best interest at heart when he asked Mom if she
would come out early (she scheduled the trip over a month ago) to help with
her, but I think SIL would rather not have to worry about her MIL not
running her house her way ;)
I did send a card to SIL to get better soon, and that I hoped it wasn't her
ass-kicking leg that got injured LOL

Purrs on the way and little birdie chirps are always thrown in as a "bonus".
This sounds very painful; I hope everything for your SIL works out just
fine. I also hope your mom chills a little :)

Just a suggestion. Tell the Drill Sergeant to cancel her trip and let SIL
recover in peace. I've had knee surgery and it is no joke. The kids
will probably do OK when needed. Purrs for those who suffer. MLB

Eeewwwwww *shudder* my knees fell all icky just thinking about that.
And mine and as I work with orthopaedic surgeons I have to be very
careful not to let on if I have any knee problems.....So many of our
staff seem to be being operated on by our various orthopaedic
consultants that I am starting to wonder if this is some sort of perk
of the job "2 years service- get one arthroscopy free!"

Oh dear! That doesn't sound like any fun at all. Was it just a slip,
or was there an unsafe condition that caused it, like water on a
slippery floor? Purrs for her knee.

He didn't give any details on how it happened, but did say it is a Worker's
Comp issue. I supose that more details will be forthcoming in an email when
he has time (he works at an Intel 'Fab', doing 12-hour shifts 3 days a week,
but still gets paid for 40 hours work. I think his days off are Sunday -
Wednesday). I'll post more info when (if?) I get it.

True! I can barely tolerate it when DH is sick.

Finally talked to my Bro yesterday, and here's how SIL fell:
She works for a company that does dog-food "experiments" (not gross or
injuring the animals, the adopt older dogs from shelters, and divide them
into groups, group A gets certain food, group B gets different, and so
forth - they watch the dogs to see the effects of the food, and if the
"senior formula" is actually better for the dogs than regular, etc., etc.,).
SIL helps to take care of the dogs, shuttle walks them, & whatever they
need, including taking them from the kennel building to the vet buiding for
their weekly 'checkups' (bood tests, weighing & general health).
This happened between buildings, while taking the dog back to the kennels,
and aparently letting it have a bit of doggy fun along the way. Rain had
washed the mulch away from an area and the 'landscaping fabric' (black
almost plastic stuff that landscapers lay down in the area to be mulched,
that helps prevent weeds from growing in that area). The *dog* tripped over
the exposed frabic, but having 4 legs instead of just 2, he merely stumbled.
SIL thought to herself, "I should watch that area & be careful, and let
someone know to have it fixed". About 5 seconds after that thought went
through her head she was distracted by the antics of the dog she was
walking. Next thing she knows, to coin a phrase, she's fallen and she can't
get up! She had aparently tripped over the fabric in the exact same place
that the dog had tripped. She lay there for a few minutes, until a
co-worker went between buildings, and when she saw the co-worker, she
"yelled her bloody head off" (my Bro's words).
She's home now, and aparently has not had the ACL surgery yet, and Bro is
saying that will be when the insurance thing & doctors get coordinated - he
said he's making lots of phone calls to try and get the ball rolling. The
sooner she has ACL surgery, the sooner Bro can quit playing nursemaid ;)
Mom did say she will do the housecleaning, laundry, maybe cook a meal &
stuff like that, and will go with whoever wants to go grocery, but the other
stuff is up to my Bro & his kids. She is *not* playing gofur. If my SIL
has a bell to ring if she needs anything, Mom says that bell will be thron
out the window the first time she uses it while Mom's there LOL. I more of
imagined
my SIL having to have a surgery to have the bell removed from her nether
regions ;)
