I just bought a prepaid cell phone this weekend, and wound up with
TracFone as my "service" provider.
I cannot retrieve voicemail, nor can I make contact with any actual
human being to get help.
Does anyone know how to get that sorted out?

I'm not sure how to contact them, except via their web site. I bought one
for my mother to use when she traveled. She never used it, so she gave it
back to me. So there it sits, in the box. It still has about 100 minutes on
it, but you would have to buy more just to activate it so you can use it.
since I already have a Verizon account, I've never bothered. I suppose I
could list it on eBay, I've just never gotten around to it :(

Seanette, I know nothing re prepaid cell phones except they require no contract and no credit reference.
BUT I typed in TracFone (I don't Google, my browser is Mozilla/Firefox) and got all kinds of 411 I don't even understand, including a bunch of downloads for TracFone users....now most of this seems to refer to ones you buy on the Net, but maybe you can find some
useful info on its website.

say about Re: Anyone know anything about TracFone?:

[hollow laugh] Neither DH nor I can find anything that actually
addresses the problem, either on the Web site or via e-mail (all I get
is the same [bleep bleep blankity bleep] auto-ignore message that
doesn't either answer the question or provide anything that passes for
useful information).

I have a tracfone and have been pretty happy with them for the last
couple of years.
What type of phone did you get? Do you have a digital phone and do you
have digital service in your area? Did you do the online voice mail set
up at tracfone.com? Those would be my starting questions.

1-800-867-7183 this is the customer service number to Tracphone, daytime
hours, and you will have to go through the d**m automated answering system
to get to talk to a real live person. I had the same problem and they fixed
it very quick.

*East Coast* daytime hours, which don't work well for a California
resident with a day job. I did get through by voice this morning, for
what little good it did (it STILL isn't letting me into my voice
mail!). I have gotten the WORST customer service of my life from
TracFone!
