My mother had a very serious cancer scare about 14 years ago. (Pancreatic which is usually a fatal form of cancer. By the time you know you have it, it's usually too late. Fortunately, they were able to correct it surgically, which is a rarity for that variety. Somebody sure pulled my family's chestnuts out of the fire.) Just remember, don't lose hope quite yet. The best thing you may be able to do for your father is to be positive and reassuring. Yeah I know, MUCH easier to say than to do! Uncertainty is very hard, in some ways, far harder even than bad news. But I hope you'll come in for some GOOD news about his health, and soon. And Melissa, My ex is dying of Pancreatic cancer, His Partner is keeping me informed and hedoesn't seem to have very long to go, he wants to phone me but she say's he rarely gets a day when he's well enough to talk on the phone. Whatever colour feels "right" to you, something you associate with your father, something you associate with good things, wholeness, healing etc etc. In the end, i don't think its the colour of the candle that matters so much as your thoughts and prayers. I don't have any worthwhile advice on candle color, but I've got an observation for anyone who has a gravely ill relative. The fear of losing someone you love can be mind-numbing. Don't let it cut you off from communication with him. When my mother told me she had cancer, I let it put a distance between us because I was afraid that any conversation would necessarily turn morbid. It was a mistake I've regretted ever since.
