Another problem we have with Sox and Shoes. They will only eat one
particular brand and type of wet cat food. In this part of the world it
is made by Purina and the stuff in question is called Friskies
(pouches). It has been harder and harder to find in all the local
stores, whereas it used to be plentiful. I phoned the suppliers (in
February this year, and again in April) and they gave me some story that
they had put in a new ordering system that was not working too well.
Hmmm. Seems a bit long to me. Ditto goes for the Fancy Feast tins. They
will eat that, but can't find it either.
What to do? We have tried other brands, even the big tins by Purina
which are called Pamper here, and they refuse point-blank to eat it.
They go out and catch mice/birds and bring them into the house to show
us just how much they dislike their food!
They will eat the dry cat food brands, not too fussy there, but don't
know if that is a good enough diet for them.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Cathy

My cats have always done very well on a diet of dry kibble. They just don't
like wet food. None of them have.
Currently they are on a mix of 1/3 Delicat (questionable quality but they
love it) and 2/3 Nutro.
That and the occasional shrimp or Ahi Tuna and we have never has a nutrition
problem with our cats. Never had one too fat of too thin either.

True. I have friends who only give their cats dry food with the
occasional pouch of wet food, and they seem purrfectly healthy! One of
my cat lover friends in particular swears by the Iams dry food brand and
won't feed his kitties anything else, but I am not sure. I have tried
giving my felines this too, but they get bored with it after a while.

I'd get on the Friskies site and email them about the problem of getting the
food. See what you can do. Or see if you can order from a place like
petfooddirect.com. (once you have ordered, they send frequent coupons which
usually negate the price of shipping.) I'm firmly of the opinion that boys
need wet food, but if your kids are eating wildlife, they are probably
getting a pretty balanced diet between that and the dry food.

Karen,
Been there, done that. Have both emailed and phoned the local Purina
people. (We live in South Africa). Actually just emailed them again...
Both times they gave me the story about the ordering system 'not working
properly'. Not sure where petfooddirect.com is based, but I suspect the
USA? Could be a tad expensive to order from there!! Thanks anyway for
your advice. I just feel sorry for the local wildlife!
Thanks
