Getting to interview purrs

My dispatcher is trying to get me routed back to my home terminal in
time to make my Tuesday interview, but no luck so far. So far I've
received two preplans that would have me missing the interview entirely.
A few extra purrs that the dispatcher makes it happen would be appreciated.

You got 'em.  Must be frustrating as can be to know they are only conducting
the interviews on Tuesday.  Seems that would limit the employer as much as
the potential employee(s).

That was my thought too! How many excellent candidates will they be
missing, just because they're only interviewing that one day?

Purrs that the dispatcher finds the perfect plan to get you back in time.

ACK--P*U*R*R*S, Dan!  Sure want this to work out for you.  Any chance of
doing something like parking your truck in a safe place for 24 hours, flying
out for the interview, and flying back?
Christine (who doesn't know how realistic that would be).

Her interview went well, as did the followup meeting with the managing
editor and the web guy. She is still (a week after the last meeting)
waiting to hear which job they will offer her.

It's looking like the purrs worked - again! I'm set to be assigned a
load that picks up in Olancha, CA (way up north) tomorrow morning, but I
then repower with another driver in Jean, NV. He will take my load in
Olancha, and I'll take his load that delivers tomorrow in southern CA.
And if all goes well I can drop it at the Colton yard and not even have
to make the final delivery.

Interview, here I come!

Sounds complicated, tiring and nerve wracking.  But workable.  The last few

We're 90% there!

My day dispatcher set me up to repower a load off a guy running a load
to southern CA. By the time I made the repower, my regular dispatcher
had gone home and the night shift had come on. The night shift
dispatcher has been absolutely no help at all. He won't set me up to
drop at the yard, he won't set me up with another repower, he won't do
anything. I have to wait until 6 AM when my regular day dispatcher comes in.

But, that's still ok. It's just after midnight, and we're stopped in
Barstow just long enough for me to post this. We'll be at the Colton
yard by 2:00 AM, then we'll nap until 6:00 AM when I talk to my
dispatcher. Worst case, if my dispatcher just can't find a way to get me
out from under this load, I'll just take a service failure on this load
and have Nancy pick me up at the yard after her Rotary meeting.

So it looks like it's on for us to get home!

Nope. The only clothes I have on the truck are ones I can get greasy and
oily without worrying about.

But that's ok - WE'RE HOME! My usual dispatcher came in at 8:00 AM and
straightened the whole mess out, and I'm at home now getting my notes
ready for the interview. Whew! What an adventure this was.

Here's hoping that you make it.  It would certainly be a change of
lifestyle.  Every time my brother-in-law, who's an owner/operator
comes to town and visits, I get to thinking I'd like to try life on
the road.  Then I remember all the inconveniences and aggravation and
the fact that I don't like to travel for business and the feeling goes
away in a day or so.

Best of luck!

Regards and Purrs,

There sure are attractions to life on the road, but after just a few
weeks I come to miss sleeping in my own bed, showering in my own shower
instead of paying $10 to shower in a scummy public shower, and eating
food that I actually was able to cook myself.

How extremely frustrating! Lots of purrs on the way that you get to the
interview one way or another.

the purrs are on the way, and hope the dispatcher has more luck (or at
least quicker) than when you were trying to pick up Harri. I'd think
it would be easier this time, since Harri was outside your normal area
- at least I hope so
