The stray cat I'd been looking after. I had been keeping him in the
annex but because I have guests coming to stay tomorrow I transfered him
to the summer house, after his last visit to the vet on Friday. I
thought it was too hot in the summer house today, so I opened the window
a little to let some air in, he manged to get it off the catch and
escape. Hopefully if he turns up at my neighbour's again we'll be able
to catch him, then he'll be neautered. The vet said on Friday we should
leave him another week for his abscess to heal completely, I had been
hoping he could have been neautered sooner but I'm sure we'll eventually
catch him and get him done.

A house is not a home, without a cat.

Just keep putting food out. I bet he'll be back in no time.

Exactly.  And make sure the neighbors knows the little guy escaped so they
can keep an eye out, too.

Many purrs from us, Adrian, that you'll be able to take of stray kitty's
neutering in time; at least you got him treated for that abcess and I'm sure
he feels much better.  Don't be too hard on yourself -- you do the best you
can and you have done a lot for him.  I'm sure he will remember that you
gave him food and he'll show up again.

No, you haven't let him down - you got his abscess treated and fed him well.
Accidents happen.  I bet he'll be back looking for more of that good food he
got from you!

Purrs that he returns safely.

In no way did you let him down, Adrian. You took good care of him.
Opening that window was part of taking good care of him. We'll be
purring that he comes back soon.

Purrs that he returns soon, I'm sure he will decide your home was too nice a
place to leave, I hope he finds his way back easily and I will be looking
for a post saying he's home  Good Luck     Jean.P.

It's a week since he ran away, sadly I don't think he'll be back. :-(

Well, he obviously found you in the first place and decided it was a nice
place to stay, perhaps if he felt you had fallen down on your duties he went
back his original home?  You know what cats are like.
I found out after many years that Kitty FC's original home had been at
number 147.  I am number 153.  Who knows how their minds work?  I certainly
don't.
I am slightly concerned that the cats will run away somewhere else while I
am gone, even though Stan will be feeding them.
I hope your lad comes home, and no, you didn't let him down.  He's a free
spirit who can choose to come back, or not. I would say he knows how to look
after himself by now.

He didn't actually find me in the first place. He had been visiting my
elderly neighbour across the road, for a few months, he was coming in
and pinching her cat's (Jessie) food, so she started feeding him.
When she realised he had an abscess that burst she asked for help
catching him and getting him to the vet, so he went to the vet from her
house and returned to mine as it was easier to keep him in the annex to
recover. Unfortunately I had guests staying last week so I had to
transfer him to the summer house, which was less secure, that's where he
escaped from.
My neighbour is still putting food out for him and keeping an eye out,
maybe he'll return, then we can get him to the vet for neautering. Where
he would live after that could then be decided.

I'm sorry, Adrian. We'll be purring that he's alright, whether he comes
back to you or found someone else to look after him.
