Steve Touchstone - 01 May 2005 22:48 GMT Wonder of wonders, I've actually caught up and have no unread messages. Actually, that's not totally true, but I WAS caught up when I logged off last night, and I haven't downloaded yet today.
As far as the kitties go, everyone seems to be doing fine. I guess Sammy's appoirtment for her quarterly ECG caught her urinary tract infection just as it was developing. I really don't see any improvement with the atibiotic, but then she wasn't acting sick before. She's actually seems to be looking forward to her meds now that I've beed putting them in a little tuna. Still doesn't lick up the amoxicillin alone, but once a silver of tuna is added she licks the plate clean.
LB, well LB is LB. Still on the fluffy side, even though I've taken to restricting her food. I used to have food out all day for them to free feed, but now put down food on the floor when it's meal time, and also some up on the counter for Sammy to graze on during the day. That way Sammy, who on the lean side, can eat as she's accustomed, while LB is on her diet. I'm starting to wonder if maybe LB hops up on the counter to eat when I'm not around, even though I've never, EVER, seen her up there. Maybe I'll start putting Sammy dry food up on top of the fridge, since I don't think LB can get up there, while I know Sam can since she regualarly perches up there to supervise hoomin activity in the kitchen.
Spotty, the little neighborhood cat who I wrote about, is still a regualr visitor at the outdoor kitty food bowl. I still don't know where Spotty lives, only that when she comes to visit she comes from the north side of the street. I've tried the old trick of putting a collar on her with a note to call if this is your cat, but no calls, and the collar was off the next time I saw her. I don't know if she slipped it off, or someone took it off and ignored the call request.
I'm sure she had her babies. She has gotten a lot less skittish with me. She lets me pet her a little now. she'll come over and rub against my legs as I'm putting out food, and I reach down and sneak a few pets. She enjoys it for a little while, than suddenly remembers she's not supposed to and slinks away. She sometimes does the rollies so I can see that she's nursing. I still haven't seen the babies yet, though. Oh well, like I think I posted once before, since she has them across the street it's probably better that they don't visit until they're old enough to be properly scared of traffic.
Well, I've run out of time and have to get ready for another hard night of pizza delivery ;-)

I haven't caught up in several weeks. However, glad to hear the girls are doing well. Frank has been finicky with his meds lately, and I've had to give them with a syringe this past month. This means that, when I crush the tablets before mixing them into water, Frank slips under the bed and doesn't come out for several hours. <sigh> It's a constant waiting game.

Christine Burel - 02 May 2005 04:11 GMT Marina, Every morning I have to go into a battle of wits with Midnight about catching her to take her medicine. She hears me go through the morning routine, wet food, a little dry food mixed in with a little water and the Cosequin for Cats that she and Tucker and Omar get daily -- then, I open the refrigerator door and she bolts because that's where the refrigerated fish flavored clomipramine is kept. I have to wait usually, too, when she's unsuspecting... Christine

W. Leong - 02 May 2005 07:47 GMT Christine,
How is Midnight doing on the clomipramine? Rusty has been taking his only every other day for the last 2 months. He is sleeping a lot, even for a 10 year old going on 11. The vet agreed that I can try to wean him off it. Next week I plan to cut back to twice a week.
What is Cosequin used for?

Winnie, thank you for asking! Actually, it has really helped calm Midnight down and she seems a happier kitty by far. Also, thank heavens, I only have an occasional marking from her now instead of daily. In fact, I decided to try a trial with Tucker, too, because both he and Midnight were having marking wars and I was going through the Petzyme like crazy. What was interesting was that once Midnight stopped marking he kept it up until I decided to let him try the clomipramine, too. He has mostly stopped marking also and he seems to be much calmer also. In the beginning with Midnight, she seemed a lot more sleepy but I think her system has adjusted and both she and Tucker are acting pretty normal re sleepiness, I think. Midnight and Tucker both get a syringe of 0.5 ml every morning -- they both weigh 12 pounds; she's 6 and he's 3. How much were you giving Rusty? Maybe as in older people, older kitties are more sensitive to dosages? Regards to both you and Rusty, Christine and Omar, Oreo, Midnight, Robin & Tucker

I go about my business, doing all kinds of stuff and avoiding even looking at Frank if he comes out, waiting for the perfect unsuspecting moment when I can catch him unaware and grab him. Then I do the same with Nikki.
