Are there pics of the little ducklings? I didn't see any on that site but
maybe I missed it.

I haven't seen any of the babies, but I have seen ones of the mommy.
She was adorable.

When the news first came out, I had a vague mental image of George W.
Bush visiting at hatching time. Summit meetings with a President on
whom a set of ducks had imprinted would be...interesting.

If you go to www.theindychannel.com (WRTV channel 6 in Indianapolis)
they have a "slideshow" Under the Daily Extras heading. The pics aren't
that great as it seems they were taken through some fencing that was erected
to protect the fowl Ms Cheney & her offspring.

I knew they were moving them today and I had seen Marine One fly over a
couple of times this afternoon. I was hoping that they were using that
to get the ducks to the park as the name was fitting. :-)

Heh...I've been in that park....this duck family is probably among the few
living beings completely safe from muggings ro worse (this park is where
they found Chandra-what's-her-name the intern's long-dead body).
You couldn't *pay* me to jog or walk in there, much less to see any ducks.
Probably good for the duck family's
wellbeing....I don't think the muggers are interested in
eating ducks.

The park is huge. Like anyplace that large and more or less wild, I'd guess
many parts are safer than others, and that time of day would also be a
consideration.

Oh? I've lived in the area for nearly 40 years, and Rock Creek Park is
considered rather low in crime. I can think of more dangerous parks.
It doesn't worry me to hike or picnic there. Some of the roads are a
bit treacherous if you don't know them -- there are curves where I'd
have sworn I was looking at my own taillights.

It is a huge park and I've rarely seen one shaped like that (narrow and
miles in length!) but maybe I was @ the only bad part of it w/Baltimore
friends, who are pretty much oblivious to "iffy"'hoods, considering where
they live/work in Baldimer....LOL.

LOL Hasn't changed since I learned to drive down there in 1963 then. It
really isn't a very good place for a criminal, at least one with a car.
Their just aren't that many ways in and out. And if I were into mugging I
can think of far better territory in the area. Joggers will beat the tar
out of you.
Especially the ones that are exercising their pit bulls at the same time.

There was a pic in this morning's NY Times, showing the mom in the
park, followed by 11 fluffy goofballs. ;) Adorable. I also read
that there was a four-car motorcade!
