I've posted a few times about my brother and his relationship to cats.
About how Samantha crossed the Bridge and left Pat and his dog so
devastated, about the strays that keep shoping up in his yard because
they know he's good for regular feeding and a warm place to sleep, about
the stray he named Mr. Grey who became a regular until the night he was
hit by a car and came to Pat's place to be with someone who cared about
him when his time was up. And about how he has recently become host to a
large collection of strays who are showing up for food and shelter. It
looks like word has gotten out to the stray cat community that Pat's
place is where to go if you're hungry.
A few days ago he got a surprise. He went into his garage for a bag of
turkey feed and found that someone had given birth to a bunch of kittens
in his garage. He kept his distance to avoid scaring momcat off and just
kept a careful watch on the garage. Later in the day he finally saw the
mom - a dead ringer for Mr. Grey! Pat is thinking it must be one of Mr.
Grey's littermates, and she looks just like him. Pat has been getting
closer to Ms. Grey every time he goes out, and can now get within a
couple feet of her. She doesn't run away when he sits hear where she is
eating.
His plan now is to wait until the kittens are weaned, then take Ms Grey
to the vet and get her fixed and take the kittens to the local no-kill
shelter.
We also have plans to build a kitty feeding station in his back yard so
the strays that come around will always have food available, and to make
it perhaps a little easier to trap them and get them in to be fixed.

Sounds great!

I think Samantha and/or Mr. Grey have sent word from the Bridge, so that
someone from the Mothership could write a sign in Feline on your brother's
property that reads, "BIG SOFTIE FOR CATS LIVES HERE". :o)
Purrs for your brother and his dog, and for all his kitty visitors. And I
hope at least one of those felines who are coming to him can find a
OneTrueHome with him. :o)

Excellent plan! Just advise him that mom might decide to relocate her
kittens in the meantime, so he needs to keep an eye on her. :)

Already done! He spends most of his time at home, so is able to keep a
close yet fairly nonintrusive eye on Ms Grey and the little ones.

Dan and Pat, Mr. and Mrs. Mahoney Sr. raised a couple of really
wonderful men. You both have my admiration and hopes that you are loved
by all as you deserve.

Aww, Dan, good for your brother. So kind of you all to collaborate on
helping the strays.
