The furry masters are off to see their new TED on Tuesday. I've been
unhappy with the vet I've been using for a while. It's a big mixed farm
practise, and the small animal vet we usually use has gone on maternity
leave so now we tend to get different vets every time we go. The thing
that made me most unhappy, was when I queried Tigers heart ultrasound
for a Bristol University referal, they messed me about and become
un-cooperative. I didn't get the referal because they "deemed it
un-neccessary".

It turns out, that 3 miles up the road from me is a new cat-only clinic,
one of only 2 (AFAIK) in the UK, the other being in Edinburgh. So last
week I went over to interview the vet, who is an older guy, early 50's.

When I asked him how he felt about handling ferals (i.e. Pandora), his
reaction was "Well, I've never met a cat I didn't like, and I've usually
found that a feral kicking off is usually as a result of me or my staff
doing something wrong when handling it." (GOOD answer! ;o)) He and I
also discussed Tiger and his heart problems in depth, and he has
requested all his records from the previous vet so that we can discuss
an appropriate course of action, be it drugs, a referal to Bristol, or
just monitoring with ultrasound every 6 months.

So, Furry-Belly (Cleo), Pandora and Tiger are all off for a visit on
Tuesday. Cleo is having vaccinations, Pandora will have her claws
clipped and Tiger will go along to meet the vet.

Wish us luck that everyone behaves. :o)

A house is not a home, without a cat.

Helen,
Where is this cat clinic? I assume it is in the west country somewhere (I
was born in Bristol).
