Where does your cat like to be petted?

Mine:

Bobby loves belly rubs, hates his head petted
Casey especially loves head pets and shoulder rubs

Ming likes to be rubbed/scratched  his sides and hips.  He'll put his
head down between his front paws (looks like he's trying to do a
headstand) and purr like a motorboat.  Eventually he flops on his side
for a bellyrub.

Jake likes the soft spot just under his lower lip scratched.

Molly hasn't worked it out yet.  She can't decide if she likes being petted
or not.  Will beg for scritches but then squirm away from them.

Bobby will raise his hind leg when I scratch that little chin.  Weird.  He
is trying to scratch it also.  Molly may like scritches at some time.  Maybe
a massage?  My cats love that when they are really relaxed.  They are just
like pillows afterwards.

Bandit - her back at the base of her tail (she makes little biting faces
when I do this).
Demi - under her chin.
Jessie - her chest.
Sammy - her ears.

Shmogg loves all around the head and neck and under the chin. He
particularly likes that bit in the front of the ears where the fur is
thinner. All else is strictly off limits.

IBKFergus doesn't stay still long enough for pettins, and if I try to give
her any she just bites me. Not hard, and I think its actually more affection
that saying "stop it" but still, quiet, snuggly love-in time is not
something IBKFergus ever indulges in. After all, there is TP to kill, carpet
fluff to chase, Shmogg to torment, Cary to amuse and Fluff to confuse. Busy
busy busy.....

I am sure all cats reading this will admire IBKFergus' restraint.  Shmogg is
very particular about skitches and that is admirable also!  My fluff buds
just roll over like dogs to have their bellies rubbed.  Shameful.

Sheba loves her face rubbed; although she will accept petting
anywhare. Djoser also likes his face rubbed; but will grab my hand and
bring it to his face when I try to pet down his back. Robin loves to
be petted anywhere, even his belly. But he gets ecstatic when I hold
him against my shoulder with his head under my chin and he can
schmurgle while i rub his body.

LOL!  Cats are soooo sensitive!  Djoser certainly has his likes.  I love the
description of Robin.

Both boys are such lovebugs. I love the way they squint their eyes
when they are being cuddled and petted.

Persia loves being scritched under her chin and stroked along the bridge of
her nose - she tilts her head back and her mouth falls open and she purrs.
Sometimes she likes belly rubs but it must be on her terms - if she rolls
over, it's the signal :)

It is funny how different our cats are!  Bobby sometimes likes me to scratch
his whiskers and puckers up for it but the nose is off limits.  I would love
to watch Persia with the mouth falling open.  Cats seem to be so sensitive
and enjoyment is so apparent -- or visible -- when they are really pleased.

Gracious!! You have a lot of kitties!  Must keep you busy.  I don't know why
Bobby doesn't like his head petted.  He ducks when I try.

Do you have a link to pics of your kitties?  How in the world do you keep up
with 7?  I have a hard time with 2!  They demand so much attention from me.
But, I do give them a lot so they expect it I guess.

They do require a lot of attention, but they also keep each other busy a
lot. Suffice it to say, it's unusual to sit down in my house without at
least one cat on you. :)

I sent the addy of Tom and Your website to a friend in Washington State
who is a big gardening fan and has an extensive victorian garden.  Can
you say LOTS of work?  I knew you could.  I haven't heard back from her,
but if I know Alicia, she'll be delighted to have found Tom's site.
It's one of the most beautiful and insightful I've ever seen.

Thank you, Tom is very proud of it. He checks every day the logs of how
many visitors from which countries he had. :)

YW.  I love Tom and Your site.  I don't have counters on either of our
URLs.  I wish I did.  I always feel like no one ever visits them, even
when I'm told that people do.

I'm by nature a somewhat irritable person.  Lots of things get on my nerves,
especially if I'm not feeling well or overwhelmed.

But I don't think there was ever a time I wished a cat would go away and
leave me alone.  People sure.  Dogs, sometimes.  Cats.  I really don't think
so.

Since I've been retired and am rarely time-driven, the cats have
taught me to slow down and take things easy.  There were times though
when a cat just wanted attention and I was in the middle of something
that I wished they would go away.  And naturally, they know just what
piece of paper you need and pick that one to sit on.

Pooh definitely has a soft spot.  All her belly fur is gone ...because she's
old.  Since this has happened, she loves belly rubs.
Both Oscar and Maui like scritches on the head, and they both like butt
pats.  It must be a Meezer thing!
Felix likes rubs everywhere.  Especially around his cheeks and ears.  He
drools when he gets "eary scritches".  :)

Stinky is a polymorphous skritch monster.   When you stroke under his
chin, he leans so far in that direction that he tips over.   He loves
to have the bridge of his nose stroked, and he loves paw massages and
belly rubs.  But his favorite thing is having his ears pulled. ;)

Frank: all around the head, and especially on his chin. He goes
cross-eyed when I scritch his beard.

Nikki: around the ears, and all around the head. Tummy rubs when she
feels like it.

Mere: ear massage.

"yepp" <nodot@.com> had some very interesting things to say about your
kitty's 'soft spot':

>Where does your cat like to be petted?
>Mine:
>Bobby loves belly rubs, hates his head petted
>Casey especially loves head pets and shoulder rubs

Felix: head, back/sides (loves rub/scritch combo petting), and LOVES
tummy rubs. He's not fond of having his tail handled, and really gets
hissy if you handle his back paws (front paw handling is tolerated).

Weeble like it all over his face
Moe loves the deep, wax-loosening ear-massages
Ping will purr no matter where you touch him
Ernie is a cross between Ping & Weeble, with an accent on the chin
Mimi likes belly rubbins
Lizzie, well, I'd have to ask DH cuz no matter where *I* touch Lizzie, she
doesn't like it
Smokey likes ear-scritchin
Tennessee likes neck-scritchin

Sarrasine loves nose scritches but only if Dave does them. From me,
she likes to have her butt and sides stroked then she falls over and
demands to have her tummy tickled!

Otis absolutely loves having his tummy scratched, the harder the
better, he lies spreadeagled for me or my partner (who has longer
nails) and rolls his eyes up, and drools with pleasure. I think he was
a masochist in a previous life as he prefers a good hard scratch to a
gentle tickle!  It's a good way to surreptitiously groom him at the
same time, he's a very lucky boy!

My little Mimi loved very rough treatment. She used to jump on my
mother's bed every night for what we called her "nightly beating."  ;)
The thing she loved the best was to be wrapped in a towel and rubbed
very vigorously.  What a little nut. ;)

Wilson doesn't seem to like head rubs, he thinks I'm asking him to play
biting games, but he simply looooves his belly and chest rubbing with
my back scratcher, he gets more use out of it than me, and it doesn't matter
what he's doing he'll come running if I tap it onon the table leg.
