I got an email the other night from a friend who lives a few hundred miles
away. She asked how her "nephmews" are doing. So I sent her a response.
On thinking about it some more, I figured that the content was appropriate
for RPCA. So here's an evaluation of how Captain and Stanley are doing,
after slightly more than three months in their OneTrueHome. :o)
[[Captain and Stanley are fine. Spoiled rotten, actually, lol. Stanley in
particular has DH wrapped around his little paw. He'll sit in DH's lap for
attention, because he knows that DH will scritch his head endlessly. All
the while, he'll sit there telling Stanley how spoiled he is, but he keeps
skritching away. So Stanley will just keep sitting there, soaking up the
attention and purring his stripey head off. LOL. Stanley actually purrs
loudly enough to be audible now. He still doesn't purr as loudly as
Captain, though. Captain's purr registers on the Richter scale. DH calls
Captain nicknames like "Motorboat" and "Jeep". :o)
Actually, they BOTH go to DH for attention. I'm glad they seek out doting
from both of us, not just me. I'm glad that they're both BOTH of our cats.
Harmony (RB) was MY cat, and DH just happened to live here. These two guys
are thoroughly enjoying having TWO humans to fuss over them.
For me, during the past week they've done the "Asleep in a heap" thing
with me when I've dozed off on the sofa. I'll wake up to find them both in
contact with some part of me, and sometimes with one another as well.
Sometimes I'll wake up because they've gone into "I'll groom your head"
mode with one another. This can take the form of one cat (usually Stanley)
starting out by grooming the living daylights out of the other cat's head,
after which the groom-ee returns the favor and grooms the first kitty's
head. Or sometimes, like last night, they both insist on grooming one
another at the same time. Either way, but especially during the duelling
"I'm grooming your head RIGHT NOW, so there!" sessions, they tend to come
close to turning it into a wrestling match. Last night, I don't know how I
didn't pull a muscle or something from trying not to laugh out loud while
watching them. They're just too funny sometimes! No wonder one of my
nicknames for them is "The Entertainment Committee". :o) ]]
So, there you have it. Captain and Stanley have pretty much made this
house THEIRS from the moment they got here. We're all loving every minute
of it. :o)

Lovely update, thanks Donna. Speaking of grooming, we had another
breakthrough last night. Mere was sleeping close to Nikki's place in bed
when Nikki came into bed. Instead of bapping her to make her move, NIKKI
WASHED MERE'S FACE!!! It seems I'm constantly gaping at Nikki's
behaviour these days. I should get used to the fact she's mellowed a lot
in her old age. I just never ever thought I'd see her wash anyone's face
except Frank's.

Glad to hear that the boys have taken full possession of their Home and
Hoomins, and that everyone is happy. =o) I think you have a pair of winners,
there, Donna.
With fond regards to the motorboat and the jeep. =o)
Melissa
P.S. My Meowmie says I can purr just as loud as any boy cats!
