Re; The Canadian Government
In the past few months the Sponsorship Scandal has been big in the
news. Chretien's Liberal government was paying stupid money for
government contracts to companies/groups who supported them. Lately a
lot of damning evidence has come out of the Gomery Inquiry. The
Liberals decided to not give the Opposition a day to bring in new
bills to the House, because they aren't legally obligated to, it's
just custom. SO they said no, for fear that the Conservatives would
try to make a vote of no confidence and get a new election called.
This pissed off the other parties so much that the Liberals gave them
an Opposition Day on May 9, when it's NOW almost GUARANTEED they will
try to force a vote. A new election could be called as early as May 1,
but likely later on in the summer....

Yeah, Paul Martin made a big speech Wed. evening on CBC. Admitted he
had something to do with it and droned on about how he was doing
everything he could to cooperate with the judge and resolve any
questions they have of him. I wish Trudeau were still alive and PM.
