Tyche is infamous for being hateful to everyone save me, DP, and her
Uncle Phalanx.  Family, inlaws, neighbours, friends, all get greeted
by growls, hisses and kitty-threats.  When we have company, Smokey's a
lovebug, Kumani's interested but shy, Nocturne is bored with the whole
thing and Tyche goes guerilla terrorist, lurking about to snarl and
bare fangs.

The other day a cop knocked on our door in the early morning.  A
nearby construction site had been looted and robbed over the course of
the night and they wanted to know if I'd seen anything.  I was rousted
out of bed, and didn't have my glasses on...and I was accompanied by
Tyche.  Great.  Just what I needed--the one cat that'll tell the cop
to go f!ck himself and die.

I was shocked to see Tyche start purring and rubbing against the cop.
HE scritched her and she boiled louder, bunting...

"What a sweet l'il kitty!  I have a kitty like you...such a nice
kitty!"

I'm wondering if I'm dreaming this.

The next week, someone from my military club drops by to give me an
invoice and...sure enough...Tyche's all over snuggles and purrs again.

Tyche's fixation for men in uniform is more than a little bizarre.

Might just be a Cat Whisperer cop. Any guy willing to talk baby talk to a
kitty on duty is pretty cat oriented.

Maybe she's making sure that she sheds lots of kitty fuzz all over his
nice uniform, so he'll have cat hair on him for the rest of the day. ;o)

Cute!  Fizz likes repairmen and the like, especially when they bring
bags full of interesting items inside. Then again, he's often more
friendly to strangers than he is to us.

We were adopted by Merlin while Rob was on trip #3 to Korea.  When he
came home, of course he dumped all his military gear (AKA War Sh*t) on
the living room floor.  Merlin immediately climbed up in the middle of
the stuff and made himself at home.  He purred, rubbed all over it, and
then stretched out and took a nap.  He was in love.  Rob has the neatest
stinky war sh*t there ever was.  Most military gear stinks, but nothing
stinks like nomex.  We've been trying to find him a camouflage patterned
collar so that he can really satisfy the military within him.

I got Rita some camoflage patterned mice at PetCo, but she's not
interested.  I'll probably be giving them to my friend's kitties,
Spot and Orca(t).

Rita only likes the kinds of mice that she can chew up and shred,
and leave pieces in my bed overnight. I have to find more of those.

Smokey-poke has his own War Sh*t, being an ex-military mascot.  The
night I smuggled him off base, I got given Military Issue bedding and
a grey wool fire blanket "for Smokey."  When my contract ended, I
tried to turn in my stuff to Supply and instead told to take it home
"in case Smokey likes it."  Next year it was the same thing.  I dunno
if Smokey really gives a care about uniform parts, but having three
fire blankets to poke on makes his day.

Good for him!!  Merlin took over Rob's camouflage printed poncho liner,
until it disappeared under strange circumstances.  We have some of those
old green wool blankets, which we inherited from Rob's parents.  He
likes an occasional tumble in them.

He has also been known to "try" to curl up in Rob's old beret.  Lets
just say that the butt is willing but the beret is not.  Merlin is also
known as a pear cat because his butt is mightier than his brain.

Well, a lot of female humans like men in uniform, so a female cat
having that fondness seems pretty reasonable. :-)

ME ME!!  <waving her hand>  I loved Rob in uniform.  He's one of the few
men who look great in Army dress greens.  He also looked great in a
flight suit, dress blues, and Battle Dress Uniforms (BDUs).

The high school I work at not only has an army JROTC unit, but is also
visited by recruiters for the other branches of the service.  The other
day, the couple of navy came in, wearing their dress whites.  WOW!  Most
of the office women were hanging their tongues out and panting.  They
did look good, but not like my Rob.

Of course he doesn't look as good in his uniform now.  Being forced into
inactivity for the last couple of years has caused him to gain weight
around the middle, and the radiation has caused him to have a horse shoe
shaped bald spot running from his forehead back.  But he still is
handsome to me.

Isn't it amazing how good a man can look when you see him with your heart
instead of your eyes?

Maybe she likes Authority Figures? =o)  Or merely thought he was very well
dressed?

DP suspects it is the fact that Tyche got raised by Nox so much.
Tyche still lets Nox bite her, and, pleased by the submission, Nox
will groom her.  This is downright disturbing now that Tyche is no
longer a kit and is instead fatter than Nox....she's not longer, but
she's wider.

This story reminded me of one about my dog Ralph, hope
you dont mind a dog one, but one day Ralph was outside
and suddenly started barking,He was normally a very friendly dog
so I looked out the window, Ralph sure enough was barking at a young man who
was running toward him, one thing Ralph thought spelled
trouble was a running man, he stood in front of him barking as I went
outside, the fellow had a bunch of papers in his hand which
he proceeded to flap in front of Ralphs face ,wrong move! Ralph
jumped up at him I yelled not to do that to an already barking dog but he
knew best, hmm, the more he flapped the more Ralph jumped andbarked.
He didn't attempt to bite, but he was not going to let this blighter get
past him.A man that lived across  the road came over as I dragged Ralph
into the house. about 45 minutes later there was a knock at the door
Ralph followed me as I went to open it, it was two policemen,  they asked do
you want to hold the dog, I asked why and they said ,we just heard he bit
someone, they looked at Ralph who was wagging his tail furiously
and licking the hand of one of the cops. Well I said , *he* didn't bite
him but I would have if he'd been flapping a wad of papers in my face, they
laughed and said the man couldn't show them a bite, but Ralph had proved his
innocence, they patted him some more, and left. all the same,I'm sure Ralph
knew they were policemen, he was a very intelligent dog.
