Sherry's New Cat, Part XXXVII

sriddles@aol.com - 20 Apr 2005 18:13 GMT I saw a cat this a.m. in the median of a busy highway. I was heading to an appointment and really didn't have time to chase it down but did anyway. It's a tricky thing, esp. since I can't run and I am always afraid I'll spook the cat and make it run into traffic. Anyhoo. She didn't run. She is really tame, a small tabby. She didn't like being cooped up in the car while I finished my business, but it couldn't be helped. She's going to have to go to the shelter since I'm at cat critical mass with Bosley. But they aren't too crowded right now, she is really sweet and I think someone will pick her because she's so affectionate. I'll pay for her spay/neuter and keep tabs on her. She is in the garage right now. DH will be so happy, NOT. I guess it's possible I stole somebody's cat, but there weren't any houses around, only businesses. I'm not feeling too convicted about that though. She looks like a Missy or a Mimi.

I still think she looks like a Mimi or Missy. Or maybe a Jewel.

Or maybe a Jewel. Wah! I get "The image “http://members.aol.com/jjrich0523/tabbycat.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors." I wanna see Sherry's new cat!
BTW, I've been meaning to ask you how Biskit is doing. I was reminded of her the other day when I saw Mere 'making biscuits' for the first time.

It's neat that Mere is a biscuit-maker. That's IMO a sign of a very affectionate kitty. The thing about Bikkie is that, I wouldn't have kept her, either, I had too many cats then, too. She just looked so awful and had so many problems nobody would have taken her at the shelter. I was going to build her up first, then I got attached to her.

Karen - 20 Apr 2005 19:42 GMT Oh she's a cutie! Man, you sure must have *DUMP A HOMELESS CAT ON ME* written into your karma code or something :) I"m glad the shelter is not full. Sounds like a case of dumpage to me. Why else would she be in that area?

It's entirely possible that she was a Tossed Cat. Thank you for rescuing her. Whatever happens from here on, she's been given a chance, thanks to you, that she wouldn't have had otherwise.

Hopitus - 20 Apr 2005 20:11 GMT Oh, her eyes have that sad, sad expressive look in them. I can relate......remember, our Rowdy was flung, as a baby kitten, out of a car onto a busy street concrete divider, knocking his eye out of its (left) socket. The chick I always call BimboGirl (simply because when she got a new BF w/3 Rotties and they wanted to cohabit, she wanted to dump Rowdy (half-blind yet) @ a shelter or give him to strangers) screeched to stop *behind* said cruel vehicle, scooped Rowdy up, eye hanging out and all, and gave him vet care then and a home for over a year. For that I give her credit, though. Back to our subject, there is practically nothing I could hear about re people's casual cruelty to cats that would surprise me. I think Bast is sending these cats in your path, Sherry.... as we know, she takes care of her own, like the statues of Sehkmet, covered w/kittens, and what is a matter of opinion in her right paw....I think it's a litterbox scoop!LOL

That would stink if she's pg, but that's what cats do. :(

Sherry did a grand thing by saving that beautiful little girl. I have rarely seen a pure gray and charcoal tabby before. Usually there is a little brown or white mixing in there somewhere. She's a beautiful, and lucky, little lady, and You are wonderful for helping her out.
Please keep us informed about her and how she does.

[quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > > Pam S. on behalf of the Fayetteville Six <<waves at Pam>> I just got back from taking her. The shelter manager said she really doesn't think the round belly is pregnancy, she thinks she might just be wormy. I have doubts. But anyway, she said they'll get the vet to look at her, and if so, either find her a foster, and if they can't, let her be the "office cat" till she (and kittens??) can be adopted. They know I don't ever ask them to take responsibility for anything I "find", I just can't take on this one. I can still "sponsor" her, i.e. donate for her vaccs and spay/neuter. Sherry
hobbs - 25 Apr 2005 13:40 GMT I wouldn't feel guilty Sherry, if she was out on a busy roadand no houses around, she/he could quite easily have been abandoned,if not then they haven't been looking after her/him too welland the kitty deserves better than that. Hugs Jean.P.
