Dear Heart and I have 2 beautiful, rambunctious troublemaking boys.
Both are almost 2 years old and indoor only. We picked up Simba when
he was 12 weeks old. That story can wait for another day. He was this
little tiny ball of orange tabby fluff with a white belly. He was
supposed to be =9Cmy cat but in true cat fashion has picked DH as
HIS person. In fact, I think he secretly hopes I drop dead so he can
have DH to himself! Simba is now almost 20lbs of medium hair orange
tabby. As an adult he has lost the white belly. His most favorite
thing in the world is a tie between people food and sitting on the lap
of DH. His second favorite thing is chasing Pepper. Have you ever
seen a very large and very orange cat try and be stealthy to pounce his
brother? It keeps us ROTFL!
Pepper was adopted from the local shelter at 11 weeks old. He came to
us about 2 month after Simba. Pepper has a black and silver tabby tux
with one tabby oval in the middle of his white shirtfront; it looks
just like a necktie. His fur is unusual in that each strand is
tri-color. White on the bottom (closest to his skin), black in the
middle and a silver tip. He also has big ears and black eyeliner.
Peppers favorite thing is to chase bugsnot to kill the bug, just
chase it!
It amazes me that they both grew up together but have such different
personalities. Simba is the big easygoing baby. He has the most
expressive face I have ever seen on an animal. Nothing upsets Simba
except for change in the routine and lord help you if you change
anything! Pepper is the curious little troublemaker. He reminds me of
a precocious toddler. If something new arrives in the house he is the
first to inspect. He likes to knock things over with his tail I
really dont think he has figured out the tail is attached to his
butt. Pepper also talks. To himself, his brother, me and DH.
Constantly! To the point that we know what each different noise means,
the food cry, the Help me cry, the I want attention cry. Both the boys
are very intelligent. I swear I have seen them problem solve. Pepper
has figured out how to open every type of door in the house. He can
open doors with doorknobs, folding doors and cupboard. Simba has
figured out that if we are eating food in the living room, then
leftovers may be sitting out in the kitchen unattended. Whenever DH
and I sit to eat a meal, he runs to the kitchen to lick the cooking
pots.
Well, sorry for the rambling. This is why no one at work will ask
about my cats anymore =81 I apologize for any errors in posting, I
have only recently attempted to post anything on the net. I would also
like to send a thank you to the group for all your stories you make
me smile at a very crazy and stressful time in my life.

I have some very bad black and white kitten pics. I love black and
white, but at the time thought the camera had color film in it and took
photos accordingly. I did receive a new digi-cam for Christmas this
year. I will see what I can do about posting some pics of them all
grown up. ~jemfur and Simba and Pepper

Simba and Pepper sound like remarkable boys. My Cheeky also
opens all the doors and, like Simba, she has the most expressive
face I've ever seen on a cat. The vet tech took one look at her face
in the carrier one day and laughed, saying "the look on her face
is hilarious!"

Speaking of doors....DH and I each have a winter hat -knit with
earflaps and pompom on top. Pepper LOVES these hats. He drags them
around, sits on them baps the pompom has a wonderful time.
Unfortunately for him we like to have the hats on our head, sans the
cat hair. Let the games begin!
Put hat on top of dresser - a dresser Pepper has never jumped on.
Pepper knocks hats off.
Put hat in hall closet - pepper opens closet and retrieves hats.
Put hats in hall closet and put vac cleaner in front of hall closet so
door will not open. Next morning find hat in hallway covered in hair.
Hmmmm, OK, I can outsmart the cat - really!
Put hats in laundry room with folding door up on a 6ft. high shelf.
Next day find hats in the hall - one hat missing a pompom. See this as
a big F*you from Pepper. Resolve to hide hats for good.
Put hats in spare bedroom, the one with the door that sticks. I have
to heave hard to open this door and I have thumbs. For good measure
put hats in the closet in this bedroom. Next morning find hats
downstairs on the futon.
Pepper now has two hats with earflaps and a pompom on one. I have a
cold head all winter.
This proves to me that Pepper can think. Not only was pepper able to
find the hats, but he figured out how to open each door to get them.
On the other hand this cat also runs in to walls :)

Everyone I work with has kids. I have cats. Listening to the "kid
stories" I have become convinced that P&S are children in disguise. 2
cats should be equal to a child: both cost a lot of money in upkeep,
both need supervision or they WILL find trouble, both spend the
majority of time sleeping, eating, playing or pooping. I should get to
tell a cat story for every kid story I listen to :P

Welcome! I look forward to hearing more about your boys. I'm owned by
Persia, a DSH that looks exactly like a very large Russian Blue. I also
have a lovebird named Peaches. (They don't interact and in fact, ignore
each other.)

That wasn't rambling, that was a delightful introduction. Your
kitties sound like a marvelous pair and it'll be a pleasure to read
about them. My name is O J (Old John) Gritmon and I live in LA with
DH Lynda and half a dozen kitties ranging from Roxy, my Persian rescue
who's four to my Grande Dame, Lady Jane Grey, who's got to be all of
twenty-one years old. It's great to have you as a member of the
bunch.
Regards and Purrs,
