Headnox = A black, furry, evil feline thing that curls around your
head while you sleep and occupies your pillow.  Often hogs pillow.
Threatens to kick you in the head if you move too much.  Guaranteed to
make the sleeper look as if s/he is sporting a giant afro.

We often have a headnox (well, usually DP, I move in my sleep--after
several kicks in the head, Nox realizes it's easier to be DP's afro.)

DP's parents came over to cat sit while we were in Maine and they used
our bed. DP's dad got a headnox.  He didn't like this and moved
Nocturne.  She returned, curled around his head again.  Apparently he
tossed her out of bed.  She was so pissed she wouldn't go in the same
room as him for the rest of his stay.  DP's dad can't understand why
his cat likes him so much and Nox just loathes him.

My dad--mr "never had a house pet in his life"--just quietly submits
to the headnox.  And she was in HIS BED in HIS HOUSE at the time being
pet-sat. AND she gave him a free hair-wash session--30 min of solid
licking in his own bed--and he just quietly took it.

Nocturne also poly'ed atop my friend Jon's head and when he moved, she
promptly kicked him in the temple.  He spent an hour lying ram rod
still afraid to move *l* with her wrapped around his head...

I share your pain! Maluce curls up like that on my pillow
and has the nerve to growl loudly if I dare move during
sleep. Sometimes I get mad and shove her off it to mattress level but she
always returns to pillow (wool shams are reversed with softer fleece; I
think she finds that more comfy to lay on than the scratchier wool cloth.
I am grateful 19# Rowdy never gets up there, but is happy to sleep near my
feet all night.

This is one of the funniest anecdotes I've read here. Good for Nocturne

Well, as bad as it is, a headnox *has* to be better than a facenox!  ;>

There's something masochistic about pet ownership that makes the bed
feel empty now if Nox /won't/ settle on the pillow as we go to sleep
(though she is always there when we wake up)

But yes, I am grateful that the breath from our noses makes the
"facenox" very uncommon.

(Though feeling a tail wagging across our faces happens fairly
regularly)

decepticoncommand@hotmail.com (Enfilade) had some very interesting
things to say about Re: I've got a Headnox.:

Felix has recently taken to sleeping on my pillow (this is new
behavior for him and he's about 12). There's a LOT of him, which makes
sharing a normal-size pillow a challenge.

Then there's Ava's recent habit of perching on my head when I'm awake
and she's out of her cage. My head is almost continually occupied by
one of my "kids" these days, it seems like. :-)

LOL! Nox is such a character! :o)

Of course, I mean "character" in a "She's taken over the world, and is
waiting for all humans around the globe to get a clue regarding that fact"
sort of way. ;o)

That's about it!  Though she has been chatty and crying tonight
because we are both feeling a little ill (me with dizzy spells from
Effexor withdrawl, DP from tiredness and irritability) and she keeps
trying to lead us to bed so she cna tend us.

Fil, have you tried Thera-flu for the withdrawal symptoms?  My daughter
found that was the only thing that helped her through the withdrawal.

I hope you feel better fast!
