Where was Nikki!! Obviously, she has been well observed for "Mini Me" to
pick such a spot.

I LOVE this photo. I mean, it's just a great photo. You should frame this
one. So good to see that Nikki feels she has established enough "space". Of
course, Mere looks pretty uncowed.

She is only the size of the bowl! Still a kitten.

That is like Sugar's mousie!! Or Grant with a throw pillow. Sometimes when
he had been playing nothing would do but to beat a throw pillow to death.
Sugar's mouse came as a Christmas present to me from my nephews. Same body
to intruder ratio size. It must feel really good. I stand there and say
"Beat, beat, beat dat mousie!" Do you say "Beat, beat, beat dat skwerel"?

Mere apes Nikki in many ways. Maybe she idolises Nikki and wants to grow
up to be a tough lady like her. Last night, Mere had laid down in
Nikki's place on the bed, by my legs. Nikki was coming to bed, but found
her place occupied. First she bapped Mere a few times. That didn't help.
Nikki went to the other room. Soon we heard some strange rustling noises
coming from the other room. Mere sat up, listened intently for a while,
then darted off to investigate. The next moment, Nikki came plodding
back with a smug expression on her face and settled down by my legs to
sleep. I think Mere has a way to go before she can outwit a wily Nikki. ;o)

Yes, she looks like, 'Did you say something, Old Lady?' She's not scared
at all, though Nikki frequently gives her a few baps on the head. Mere
is really starting to act like a teenager. ;o)

Four and a half months, but she's already grown a lot since she came
here three weeks ago (is it only three weeks??).

Sounds so much like what LB used to do when Rocky was figuring out
where his spot on the bed was going to be. He wanted HER spot next to
my side. She knew he could outfight her, so if she came to bed and
found Rocky in her rightful spot she would go and rattle the kibble.
'Course Rocky had to go investigate (he was still at the stage where
he wasn't sure that there was a reliable food supply, so he had to
supervise whenever anyone ate, just to make sure there was still
something in the bowl for when he got hungry). As soon as Rocky hopped
down to go check the food level, LB would hop and and claim her spot.
When Rocky came back after taking inventory, he was too much the
gentleman to fight over the spot, so would settle down somewhere else
on the bed.

Course all this was after LB had decided he was part of the family.
For the first few weeks she would hiss if he acted like he was going
to get on the bed. Eventually she gave in, and let him on the bed
without protest, though she never got to the point where she would put
up with him being to vclose.

They're getting there, I can't believe Mere is integrating into the
household so well, you're doing a *great* job Marina.

And what a lovely, lush coat she must have. I love the way it shines.

Nina just looked at that picure and then looked at me as if to say,  "And
why don't *I* have my own bananas?"   I tell her she has the misfortune to
be the owner of a banana disliking hoomin. =o)

I do too, but I love the Satanic gleam in Mere's eyes as she tackles the
squirrel. =o)  I have my green-eyed boy, and two golden-eyed girls, and I'm
content with that. Even though poor old Pan's eye sight is none too
wonderful, these days.

Mere'as fur is very short and very soft. It feels so different from the
other cats'. Russian Blues only have two 'layers' of fur, where cats
normally have three, so I have to be careful that she doesn't get cold.
My niece knitted her older Russian Blue, Kasper, a pullover to wear at
their cabin in winter. Me and my sister rolled our eyes at that, but I
suppose I'll have to take that aspect into consideration in future.

Thanks, Lori, but I don't think I can take credit for that. I basically
just plopped down Mere in the household and let the cats work it out
among themselves, making sure I doled out love and scritches equally
among all. Nikki has really amazed with how quickly she calmed down
after the initial shock of a 'trooder kitty'.

I don't know. It's not as if she'd eat them, though she does like to
sample all hoomin food at least once, even my vegetarian dishes. The
only thing she *won't* eat is cat food, wet or dry. :o/

Mere's eyes won't be such a brilliant emerald colour as Bandit's though.
RBs have more of an olive green colour in their eyes.

I'm still convinced Persia is half RB.  She has lovely green eyes but they
aren't like emeralds.  Mere is a gorgeous bitty kitty.

Aaaww!  She looks so soft and pelty!  And her fur shows up so well on
your pants ;-)

Excellent progress!  She looks utterly adorable in a very regal way.

Hmmph.  Vino is unimpressed.  He has way more bananas and they are
fresh off the tree.  Mere's bananas might be bigger but it's not the
size of the bananas that's important, it's how you use them ;-)

Hahahaha!  Ohhh, what a loooooong tail, it didn't even fit in the
picture ;-)
