wafflycat - 15 Apr 2005 14:32 GMT In my local town is a shop which has the most *lovely* clothes in it. For over a year now, whenever I've cycled or driven by it, I've stolen a longing look inside and sighed... Lovely clothes...
Today I tentatively wandered in. The shop owner was *lovely*. I spent ages in there looking through the rails of clothes, trying stuff on... Bought a Little Black Top :-)
I can now go into a clothes shop fuill of lovely clothes that does not have to be an "outsize" shop and know I can possibly get something to fit :-)
YYYYYYEEEEEEEEHHHHAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
Cheers, helen s

I had a NSV as well. I was able to fit into some prepregnancy shirts today.

It helps me. Just working out will give you huge health benefits, and help shed the fat. Just remember, you might gain muscle weight.
Last night, I found out how heavy 2 pound weights can be. At my kickboxing class, we had to punch and do various other elevated-arm motions with weights in our hands. I used to laugh at 2lb weights. No more, though, I'll tell you that!

Helen Miles - 15 Apr 2005 21:01 GMT > Just working out will give you huge health benefits, and help shed the > fat. Just remember, you might gain muscle weight./// DON'T talk to me about friggin' muscle weight! ;o) I lost 55lbs last year, and started playing ice-hockey & skating 5 times a week. I've put on 10lbs!! And I conclude it must be muscle, because the clothes I bought when I was 10lbs lighter still fit!
GAH! Exercise *IS* bad for you! ;o)

I'm getting into clothes I last wore when I was a good 14lbs lighter than I am now. Difference - I exercise more now, so am a lot more toned than I used to be even when lighter, many, many years ago.

I always go by clothes, not the scale. I don't even know how much I weigh, but I know when my clothes get tight. Congratulations!

You would think there would be more "outsize" places given all the outsize people. I don't know where I'll find something nice for my daughters wedding in September.

(I hope it doesn't offend anybody-- it comes from a different time, and I always found it funny, and kind of sweet, in a way)
" Grow, Mrs. Goldfarb, fatter, fatter Pile the potatoes on your platter. Listen to me 'cause I'm your hubby. I just adore you plump and chubby. I got a letter from the state, Dear. You're gonna need a license plate, Dear. My little elephant joke come true. Chew, Mrs. Goldfarb, chew!
There is so much more of you, More to adore of you, 'Cause you're not slender. In your white dress, you're a doll, Big as the Taj Mahal, In all its splendor. When you're in department stores, Don't use revolving doors, You might get stuck, Dear. When you use the telephone, Go in the booth alone, And lots of luck, Dear.
You had for breakfast: two pounds bacon, Three dozen eggs, one coffee cake, and Then you had something really awful, Four kippered herrings on a waffle. Nine English muffins, one baked apple, Boston cream pie, Philadelphia scrapple. Seventeen bowls of Crispy Crunch. Then you said, What's for lunch?
Sweetheart, you are giant size. You are Lane Bryant size, My darling Myrtle. Last Thanksgiving I was thrilled. You ate so much, you killed Your living girdle. Have another dozen shrimp, My lovely little blimp. Don't count a calorie. I have just received a stub. I owe the Diner's Club A whole year's salary.
Eat, Mrs. Goldfarb, daily, nightly. Eat, though your chair is bending slightly. Love of my life, I'm glad I found you, Each day I take a walk around you. I can't forget when we got married. Over the threshold I got carried. No other bride would be so sweet. Eat, Mrs. Goldfarb, eat!"

It's an old Allan Sherman song-- the guy who wrote/sang "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah." He's mostly forgotten now, but he could be pretty funny.

Hey, don't they use a doctored version of that song in a television ad for Advantage? Puppy at camp, something like that.

LOL I just downloaded "Camp Grenada" to make a funny cd for my girlfriend to take on a trip where she'll be driving a lot. It's actually a pretty clever little song. :) Never heard of Mrs.Goldfarb!
Congrats on the weight loss!!! Yes, just keep on telling us about it so some of out here know we can do it too! :) PatM

For mother of the bride stuff most bridal shops have "outsize" (I love that) clothing. For nice dress stuff I love Talbots Woman and Cold Water Creek.

Have to do the "Mother of the Bride" thing. Now I never wear dresses. Hardly ever wear shoes. I'm short and heavy. I hate dresses.
This ain't gonna be pretty. Just hope I can find reasonably cool and comfortable. Older daughter has promised to take me shopping.
