Nancy applied a couple of days ago for two different jobs at the
newspaper which is sort of the parent company of the paper she works for
now. She got two calls this morning - one asking her to come in to
interview for the Special Sections Editor job tomorrow morning, and one
to come in and interview for the Copy Desk job on Monday morning! YEAH!
So some good luck purrs for Nancy tomorrow morning and Monday morning
would be appreciated.
Still no solid leads for me.

Dan, have you signed up with any of the 'headhunter' agencies? I'm supposed
to meet with someone tomorrow at RHI (Robert Half Technology). You can go
to www.roberthalftechnology.com and register and search for jobs in your
area. You might also seek out your state's .gov site. Ours has a link for
job searches. The jobs on the TN site are alternately listed directly by
employers or by headhunter companies. That's what put me onto RHI. I found
a possible job and followed the link to send my resume. Got a call a little
while ago to meet with the headhunter.

Good luck. I was listed with them during my year of job-hunting
(which ended when I got my current job), and they never referred a
single lead to me. They only refer candidates that they feel are
qualified for a job, and apparently the person handling my account
didn't feel that I was qualified for any of the job offers, despite
having worked as a programmer/analyst since 1986. I got my current
job, working as a programmer for WebMD, through a listing on
Monster.com.

I haven't had any luck with Monster.com. The employers from there keep
calling me about sales/telemarketing positions. Sorry, I'm not going to
work on strict commission or interrupt someones dinner to ask if they want
to buy insurance. Yes, I have an insurance background but I was never in
direct sales and I don't call people up to ask if they need any.

Huge amounts of prayers and purrs are on the way, for Nancy to get
whichever of these two jobs would be the better choice for her, and also
for you so you get some job leads that translate themselves into an ideal
new job.

Thanks! Nancy says the interview yesterday went well and the manager
says he'll be making his decision early next week. And she's all ready
for the next interview on Monday.
As for me, I've got a headhunter calling me to apply for a job in
Seattle. It pays well, but I REALLY don't want to move to Seattle. I
don't have anything against Seattle, I just really don't want to have to
move away from my brother and mom when they're having health issues.
And another trucking company wants me to drive for them, doing a
dedicated route in CA, AZ, and NV, home a couple nights a week and every
weekend, for more money than I'm getting now. I'm seeing how quickly I
can get back to the LA area to get into their new employee orientation.
