Duke of URL - 09 Apr 2005 23:13 GMT Ever since moving here, I am constantly sneezing - long, loud & often. Does anyone know a good home-remedy cure? I'd rather not add another drug to my mix.

Location has to do with what pollens are in the air, etc. I have to rinse my car off daily because it's covered with yellow pollen from the pine trees here in the southern U.S.
Some have suggested flushing out the sinuses with salt water... okay, just don't drown yourself in the process. A nice steamy hot washcloth placed over the nose and eyes will loosen up the gunk in the sinus cavities.

I don't know why everyone seems to be obsessed with flushing out sinuses! <G> Mine are not full, are not plugged, are not swollen, are not giving me any trouble. I'm trying to simply stop sneezing all the time.

Sneezing (uncontrollable): Lobelia (tea, tablets, tincture, etc) German Chammomile tea. Snif water up the nose to rinse out pollens or other irritants. Vitamin C 1-2 grams daily belived to have anti histamine effect.
By the way, I asked you this before & never got a response: Were you travelling in Thailand in the mid 90's? Ever work as an extra on a bad Renny Harlan Pirate movie?
Cheers

Ever work as an extra on a > bad Renny Harlan Pirate movie? Sorry, Matt, never saw the post. No, I didn't set foot outside Nebraska during the Nineties. No, I was never an extra in any movie; in fact, I've never heard of Renny Harlan.

The main alkaloid it contains, lobeline, is closely related to nicotine.

My favorite is Open Harvest on South and 17th street (they have GREAT catnip sticks which you see in many of my pictures) and Akins at 70th and O (which sells some good cat food).

Moses, not being a common name, I had to ask... & your Duke signature is right in line with the sense of humor the Moses I met travelling had... Renny Harlan is a hollywood director who's done alot of flops: Cutthroat Island (the one I was in), The long kiss goodnight, Cliffhanger, Driven....
Thanks for the cartoon, very funny... Cheers Mathew Butler to 2 kittens: Chablis & Muscat En Vino Veritas
jmcquown - 10 Apr 2005 22:09 GMT > <SNIP> >>> [quoted text clipped - 15 lines] > Cutthroat Island (the one I was in), The long kiss goodnight, > Cliffhanger, Driven.... Cliffhanger was the only flick I actually *liked* Sylvester Stallone in. And not because of him; John Lithgow portrayed a really great bad guy ;)

I don't know if I should mention this, as I'm certainly no fan of his work, but Renny Harlin is Finnish (real name Lauri Harjola). He was born in a little town near Helsinki.

Kind of hard to miss when you meet the man, he still has a very slight Finnish accent & he's 6'4" with WHITE blonde hair & beard. My heratige (at least 1/2 of it) comes from your neighbours, Marina. My Grandfather lived in Riga till late in WWII, when the Russians came in, as the Germans were reatreating... He got out. The USSR did'nt like him much... Educated intilectual (with 3 masters degrees) and a working journalist at the time. Cheers.... Too bad about most of Renny's movies, eh?

You may also want to try cleaning using something called a Netti Pot (looks like a small tea pot). Fill it with warm, distilled water and sea salt (not sure of the amounts), and pour it into the nose. There's actually a "way" of doing it, if you're interested, I'll go look for the directions. That's cleared up my minor sinus stuff, once in a while I get a major sinus problem, but nowhere near as often as before.
Smokie Darling (Annie) - if this prints twice, I'm really sorry. Got a server error on the first try.

Prices vary enormously, so get one of the low-end models first, to be sure it helps, before you make any sort of major investment. I find my sinuses much less stuffy in the morning, when I turn mine on before I go to sleep.

My sinuses are rarely stuffy - since I use a C-PAP to sleep, the pressurized inflow keeps them open.
