I know you love to cook and develop your own recipes so this made me
think of you.  :)
Vegetarian Times is having a recipe contest.  Obviously no meat or fish
but eggs and dairy allowed in the recipes.  Cash prizes or a copy of
their new cookbook for three honorable mentions.

Hmmmm.  Thanks for thinking of me, Elise, but the 30 minute time-frame
somewhat limits things.  I created a nice barley pilaf recipe but pearl
barley takes about an hour to bake to tender fluffiness.  I do have a recipe
for 5-bean soup that might fit the bill (if using canned beans).  I'll have
to think about this a bit :)

Hmmm, if dairy is allowed my potato-leek soup only takes about 30 minutes to
prepare from start to finish.  My roasted butternut squash soup is out
because you have to roast the squash for an hour first.  Darn, too bad, it's
definitely great soup.  Even my friend Carol, who hates butternut squash,
loves and makes this soup!

LOVE it when the occasional peice of carrot slips onto the floor... I do,
however, preffer to let it simmer at least an hour.

My corn chowder contains fried bacon (or sliced salt pork).  It's absolutely
not chowder without it!

Try it; you'll never go back!  And saute the veggies (onion, carrot, celery,
garlic, whatever you add) in just a bit of the bacon fat before adding them
to the pot.  AHHHHH :)
