Mere nearly gave me a heart attack today. Suddenly, she was acting
strange. She hid under chairs and the bed and peeked out fearfully. I
thought she must be ill. She was so strange. In the hallway, she was
alright and even played a little with her rope toy. But when I carried
her into the living room, she suddenly wriggled out of my arms and
hot-tailed it out in the hallway and hid under the coats. This happened
several times, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was wrong.
I looked around. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then a gust of wind waved
the flag on the pole outside my window. Mystery solved! Poor Mere, she
is terrified of the flag. (The flag is up today to commemorate Mikael
Agricola, who developed Finnish as a written language.) I live on the
third floor, and the flagpole is just so high that the flag waves right
outside my window.
Poor Mere, she probably thinks it's a huge bird of prey come to eat her.

Awww. Funny what the furballs are afraid of, is'nt it? Chablis is
terrified of my skis & both furkids think the vacume cleaner is a loud
growling monster out to do greivous bodily harm to them both.... A fter
vacuming, I leave the machine out & enjoy watching the cats spend a good 1/2
hour surrounding & stalking the evil thing... Finally they'll go up & take a
snif, then ignore it.

Instinct can be a powerful thing. Poor babe is terrified right down to her
socks and probably doesn't even know why.

Poor baby just isn't used to the flapping. Could you close the
drapes/blinds so she doesn't see it?

HOpefully she will get used to it...We always know when Tyche has
pried open the screen door--Smokey starts shrieking his head off when
there's no barrier between him and THE OUTSIDE.

Poor Mere! I bet she's growing up so fast. I have to go see her new

We get those huge black crows round here at times, and they swoop down near
th veranda cawing loudly, if Wilson is out there he gallops in like the
Devil was after him, well maybe the *crows* are they may have spotted him
out there. Jean.P.
