the other night I couldn't get to sleep

I am usually a sound sleeper but was worried about job, finances, etc.  I
went to bed around 12:30pm and Casey (my white fluffy Himmie cat) got into
his usual position of right up against my neck.  He curls up in a ball and
purrs.

Every 30 minutes or so, I was tossing and turning and Casey got up each time
and  turned to the other side too, relaxing into his usual position.  I did
this about 10 times and each time, he got up and moved over to the side I
was sleeping on and curled into my neck.  What a cat.  How did I ever get to
sleep before cats?

It's great, isn't it?  I sleep on my side, and Stinky likes to curl up
next to my tummy.  When I turn over, he climbs over me and settles
down on the other side. ;)

I miss that about Grant. The girls just don't cuddle like he did! I hate
that I keep intruding these Grant thoughts on you all, but it is just hard
not to. I LOOOOOVED how he used to be the first one up and then he would
come up by my right side and just fall (THUD) over and I have no idea how
but he was always perfectly flush with my side, even though he just
basically tossed himself down. How did he figure that out so precisely?? Cat
radar?

Don't be sorry, I love hearing about Grant, and I'm sure we all
understanbd what it is to miss such a good guy.

Karen,
keep telling us about Grant. It helps you, and we love to hear
about him.  While it's been five years since I lost Twilight, there are
things I still miss - particularly the way he would curl up against the
back of my legs. I love feeling a cat leaning into my legs, but the
others don't really do that. But they all compensate in other ways.

I doubt that anyone minds hearing about what a special guy he was, and
it probably helps you to remember the good times, even if it does hurt
now that he's not there with you.

That's how it is with me with Rocky being gone. He was a special guy
in so many ways There are so many firsts when a former feral decides
to retire from the wild life and adopt a hoomin: first time he lets
you pet him, first time he purrs, the time he surprised me and jumped
into my lap because he was tired of being ignored and wanted to be
petted, etc. Firsts that were shared here group because the people
here understand just how wonderful they were - heck you folks even
understood how happy it made me when he decided to use the box instead
of going outside.

So, forget about any worried about intruding, we understand. Purrs
that the memories will soon just bring a smile instead of the pain
that missing him causes.

Grant was so sweet.  I hope that the girls are doing okay without him.
Betty will also occasionally lie flush against me on top of the covers
before coming underneath, or stay there if it's summertime.  Cats can
exert a lot of force leaning against you, even when they're asleep!

The other day, I was already in bed, and Betty was about to plop
against me.  She circled once to make sure the area was flat, then
turned away from me to flop over.  Not feeling like getting shoved, I
quietly shifted a couple of inches away from her.  When she flopped
over, I wasn't where she expected me to be, and she ended up rolled
over with all four legs in the air!

I know the feeling *except* sometimes when I can't sleep my tossing and
turning disturbs Persia.  She's discovered there is this entire side of the
bed where she can have her own pillow!  So when I'm tossing and disturbing
her she nows moves over until I settle down and actually sleep.  Then she
comes back and tucks herself next to my side.

Last night, Felix decided he HAD to be on my pillow. There's about 14
lbs. of him, with lots of fur. :-)

I actually didn't mind, as long as there was room for my head and he
kept his tail out of my nose and his paw out of my eye. :-)

LOL!  Yeah, that would kind of be important for a sound sleep!
