And Buster knows it.
Got back from the dentist a little while ago, and my face is still
numb from the shots. He is a very good dentist, where "very good" is
defined as "I felt very little pain" (big gap-toothed grin).
Anyway, I get home and take a Lortab before the numbness wears off
(just in case, you know). I lay down on the bed, but am not paying
enough attention to Buster, who rubs up against me.
Well, the impatient one grabs my right hand, with both sets of front
claws, then leans forward and nips me gently (at least it *felt*
gentle - grin) on the nose!
Okay, okay, I start petting Buster before he uses the numbness as an
excuse to make off with my entire nose.
Dulce Mae was the first of the cats to notice my changed medical state
- she came right up and asked to be picked up, which she never does.
She rubbed her face against mine, and purred for me.
As an aside, I've fasted since breakfast, on the off chance that I
felt nauseated from having two teeth removed. I'll be very glad when
the numbness is down to a level where I can control my mouth enoughto
eat supper.
Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

Ouch! Or, as the case may be, not ouch. ;o) I prefer that kind of
dentist, too. I don't mind what they do, as long as it doesn't hurt.

This reminds me of the character Steve Martin played in 'Little Shop of
Horrors', the sadistic dentist who drove a motorcycle.
I've always been terrified of getting shots in my mouth. I don't mind shots
in general, but something about them in the gums triggers a major NO!
response from me. I finally found a dentist who could give me shots and I
don't FEEL the shot! Now here's something funny. He had just given me a
shot and went to check on another patient. I heard that patient loudly
protesting NO SHOTS! The dentist came back to me and said, "I know this is
unusual, but would you mind going and telling that guy you didn't feel me
giving you the shot?" LOL

Jill,
My dentist works on Dentophobes (don't know if that's a real word or
one he made up) exclusively. Top of that list is my father and myself.
He also does shots that one can't feel... Well, except for that one
through the roof of the mouth (the hard palate), they can't numb that
thing, and it really hurt, but he is so careful otherwise that I'd
trust him to fix my teeth. You know if he'd stop with the metal hook
in the mouth, that just gives me the heebie jeebies and I worry more
about that than any pain.

Purrs Mark hoping that you feel better soon. I've got a tooth that I
need to get pulled too but I keep putting it off.

Ouch! Poor Mark. Purrs that your numbness and pain are now gone, and
you are able to wolf down whatever you want to eat.
