Earlier today, a deliveryman didn't quite close the front door, and I
only noticed it about an hour later. As I approached it, there was a
gray streak that ran up the stairs.  Ding is generally a gray streak,
but Rhonda was the only cat at the top of the stairs.

Quite concerned that anyone else had gotten out, I called, and soon
accounted for Ding and Rhonda.  No Mr. Clark.  Now, Mr. Clark has gotten
out twice, made it a few steps under a bush, and wailed to be taken back
inside.

When I looked outside, he was nowhere to be seen in the bushes. I called
for a while, but no answer. I thought I'd keep checking -- he is a
sensible, placid cat.

No response over about half an hour. Then, as I was at my desk, Rhonda
came in and made some unusual and excited sounds. Getting up, she led me
to the front door.

There was a slightly cringing and rather piteously meowing Mr. Clark. I
reached out to him, he hesitated, and then rushed in for a scratch.

Everything is back to normal, but Rhonda clearly saw a problem,
recognized it, and was annoyed that it took the hoomin so long to
understand her direction.

Hi Howard... Just another example of why your cats are smarter than you.
Don't wory, I dont think they hold it against you.... The Mothership forbids
it.

Very often when I come home, Pearl YELLLS at me. Very urgently. Even though
she has just gotten down from her cat tree after a 4 hour nap.
Meeeeooooooowww Meowmeow meeeeeow!! I often say, "What's that girl? Timmy's
in the well?" LOL!

I will have to remember that!  Incidentally, have you seen the General
Electric (IIRC) commercial when Lassie becomes a kung fu adept who
drives off a cougar, the latter displaying a "what the..." look?

Heh. I have not seen that.

I know Pearl doesn't get the joke, but it makes me giggle every time.

Mimi did the same thing-- I called that the "WHERE THE HELL WERE
YOU???" meow. ;)

I call it the "EMPTY BOWLS!" alert. It's quite a klaxon when you get it
from three directions at once. =o) Pan is good at questioning me about
my recent wherabouts, and WHY is dinner so unpardonably late?

I'm so glad he is okay. I worry about this all the time when we are
bringing packages inside. Very alarming--and it could have ended
very differently.
